"Shit Max! What did you do to him?"

I exclaimed while running over to Billy's unconscious body. Max dropped the bat and walked over to the other side of the room to join the boys, scoffing at me as she walks by.

"Nothing he didn't deserve."

She answers bluntly. I check Billy's neck for a pulse, relieved when I feel a steady heartbeat. After checking his body over quickly to ensure no permanent damage was done, I rush over to Steve's body. Unlike Billy, he is in much worse shape.

"Damn."

I mutter while swiping my thumb across Steve's bloodied cheek.

"We need to go. We have go get to that tunnel to distract the Mind Flayer's army and help El."

I hear Mike say over my shoulder. Sighing, I lean down and gently kiss Steve's forehead before standing up and facing the kids.

"Alright, I know that Steve didn't agree to this plan, but seeing as how he is unable to protest right now, I'm with Mike. We have to help out somehow but we are not leaving Steve here. Max, go get a washcloth and fill it with a few ice cubes, we need to get the swelling down. Also, search for any kind of first aid kit you can find. Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, you're with me. We need to get Steve's body in the car."

I instruct, taking over Steve's role of being in charge. Max scurries off, doing what I told her. I grab one of Steve's arm and Lucas grabs the other. Mike and Dustin each grab a leg and we try to hoist him up. We make it a few steps before Mike drops Steve's leg.

"Shit, he's too heavy."

Dustin grumbles. Apologizing to Steve in my head, I nod to the kids to gently lay him back down.

"We're going to have to drag him. Dustin, take his other arm and help Lucas get him to Billy's car."

I direct.

"Billy's car?"

Mike asks, joining me as Lucas and Dustin get to work.

"Yeah, might as well. He ruined our evening. I'm not overly worried about ruining his car."

I tell him. I lightly pat him on the shoulder before turning around and walking back inside the house. I go over to where Billy is lying and crouch down. I reach inside of his pockets and grab his keys.

"Hey, I got the ice you asked for but I couldn't find a first aid kit. I just found these two bandaids."

Max says, walking to stand by me.

"That's fine, better than nothing I suppose. Thanks Max."

I say with a slight smile. Together we walk outside to see the boys finishing up.

"Okay, who knows how to clean up wounds?"

I ask everyone once Max and I join them by the car.

Silence.

"Seriously? No one?"

I say exasperated.

"Come on guys, I'm the only one old enough to drive and you're telling me that I am also the only one capable of taking care of Steve?"

"Josie, I can drive."

I hear my sister say beside me. Is she serious?

"You know that Dad used to let me drive around in the old parking lot. I can do it."

She says.

"Absolutely not! Max, you are too young and frankly, I do not want all of us to die tonight!"
