Steve Harrington watched his best friend dance around the room with a smile plastered on her lips. It'd been only weeks since they got her back from the Upside Down, the dimension that took the life of Barb. It was natural for him to worry about her, that was what he did best. The thought of losing her again scared him and in order to prevent that, he was with her all the time.

"Steve, get up and dance with me," she beckoned, motioning with her hands to get up and join her. Locks of red hair bounced as she swayed to the beat of Let's Hear It for the Boy by Deniece Williams. "Let's give the boy a hand!" she sang out loud, jumping up and down excitedly. Steve stood, grabbing her hands and spinning her around.

The outburst of laughter that came from Aurora filled Steve with the ever so familiar feeling of love he got when he was around her. Pulling her in close, he dipped her, laughing as she made a dramatic gesture of lifting her leg. There was a lot he liked about his best friend but her sense of humor was at the top of the list. "Where did you learn to do that?" she asked when they were upright once more.

"I know a lot more than that," he gave her a goofy grin as Bruce Springsteen came on. "What mix is this?" he asked, going to her stereo. Before he could stop the music, Aurora jumped on his back. "Rory, what the hell?" he asked, stumbling a bit.

"Don't look at it, please," she stuck out her bottom lip, "Steve," she nuzzled her head into his neck. The mix was one she made herself, they were all songs that perfectly summed up the way she felt about him. The labeling said, 'all about steve' in big letters.

Finally giving up, Steve nodded. "Okay, fine," he shrugged. Raising his brow, he spins in a circle. Aurora let out a loud laugh, sliding off his back when he stopped. "Come on, just tell me why they're all love songs of sorts, that is all I want to know,"

"Why, are you jealous?" she asked, raising a brow at the boy. Steve felt his stomach drop, knowing that he could now express his feelings for her, that this is the moment to do it. "Steve, are you still in there?" she waved a hand in his face.

Steve swallowed his pride, "What if I was jealous?" he asked, sitting himself on her bed. "Is it for Jonathan?" he moved his gaze to her face, looking for a reaction from her. Aurora just narrowed her eyes at him, trying to figure out whether or not he was serious.

Of course it wasn't for Jonathan, it was all for Steve. Being around him after his valiant effort to bring her back from the upside down was hard, she owed him her life. But it wasn't just his bravery that made her realize she loved him, it was just him. "No, actually, it's not for him," she spoke finally, "you don't have to be jealous of him," she took her place right next to him.

The moment Aurora realized she loved Steve was just before she went missing. When he was holding Nancy close as they walked into the Halloween party, when she wanted nothing more than to be the one on his arm. "I'm not jealous, I'm curious,"

"Why? Is it because of Nancy?" Steve furrowed his brows. Everytime he brought up Nancy, there was a change in Aurora's behavior. A small part of him hoped it was because she wanted to be with him as much as he wanted to be with her. "Sorry, is it still fresh?" she leaned herself against the wall.

"Why do you dress like you're in the 50s?" he played with the lace cuff on her socks, changing the subject. When he confessed, he wanted it to be romantic, he wanted to make sure she'd actually liked him that way.

Aurora pushed his hand away, "Since when are you so fashion forward?" she shot him a dazzling smile. Phil Collins came on her stereo and she shot up to change it. Turing the stereo off, they were left in silence, one that could not be broken very easily.

"Can we talk about it now?" Steve saw her gaze locked on the picture they used on the her missing person poster. "You haven't talked about it since you first got back. It's only been a few weeks, you have to be-"

"My mom left us and I have this feeling it's because of me," he sat up, sitting at the edge of her bed, "because of what happened to me," she turned to face him. "She doesn't want me because I'm damaged,"

Steve stood, grabbing her hand and pulling her into his chest. Wrapping his arms around her, he place his chin over her head. "You're not damaged. A bad thing happened to you and you survived. I'm proud of you," he kissed the top of her head, his eyes landing on the label of the cassette, a small smile forming on his lips. "I love you so much Aurora May Henderson,"

Aurora let the tears fall freely as she gripped onto his shirt. Every part of her wanted to melt into him, to stay right where they were until everything felt alright. "I love you, Steve Harrington,"
