Maxine may not seem okay, as she is not, but that's okay.
Being 17 and having a condition where you can't sleep without a fear of dying, it does things to you, like causes panic attacks and fear of social activities incase you somehow fall asleep, there is always a maybe.
To sleep, she wears an oxygen mask, it attaches to her head via a strap at the top, which wraps around her cranium, and a strap towards the bottom, which wraps around the base of her skull, with a mask over her nose, and it always has to fasten in the most secure way, with the oxygen pipe going passed the side of Maxines head, leading to a pump on a shelf, just above her bed.
A button, similar to a doorbell, allows her to call for her carer, Amina, if she ever needs anything.
To sleep, Maxine must lay flat on her back, which she struggles with as she always moves, a downside to her autism, she knows how to handle herself well for having it.
Maxine doesn't understand why this has happened to her, and why she has autism, which she handles well due to many a therapy session.
