It didn't take long for objects to start reappearing in my vision. I could make out the lights on the ceiling as they came into focus and finally the light diminished to normal vividness. I tried to speak, but I couldn't find any words.
"I told you you could trust me," Andrew said as my mind finished adjusting to my surroundings. As far as I can tell, I'm perfectly fine. "The effects of the aptitude test simulation will wear off eventually, but in the meantime, just take it easy. You're results are recorded and you will receive them in good time."
I smile. My first real, non-nerve-disguising smile in days. It's done, over, and I am overjoyed. Andrew clearly understood my emotions, and disconnected me from the wires effortlessly before saying that Bella was most likely back in the cafeteria waiting for me. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," I said nearly out of breath.
"It was my pleasure," he said as he directed me towards the door once again. Stepping out the door was like entering a new life, and this was only the beginning.
