Sarah is a lovely girl, she really is, but when she gets a boyfriend it's as though she turns into someone else entirely. She becomes a Love sick pain in the back side.
"Did you hear me, Sarah? I asked if you liked this one." I try to grab my friends attention, but her little pixie nose is practically pressed against the screen of her cellphone, her fingers typing away with little heart emojis to her current arm candy.
"What was that, Bell?" She asks me, not even bothering to look up.
"My dress, Sarah. Is it nice enough?" I ask again, my voice dripping with the annoyance that's built up over the day. It's been like this in every shop we've gone to, and I'm starting to lose my mind.
Sarah finally looks up and her big eyes go even wider as she stares at me. "That's definitely the one. Bloody hell, you look to die for!" She yelps, jumping to her feet and examining the dress further.
I feel pink fill my cheeks as she praises me. "This will definitely seduce the trousers off of Mr. rich and handsome." Sarah adds and my mind wanders.
I know she means this Calvin fellow my father has told me about, but I can't help but picture William. I haven't told her about him because honestly, I don't think that I trust her with the information. It would probably be a news head line by tomorrow, knowing her.
"Well thank you very much." I reply, spinning in a girlish circle. The dress is an absolutely stunning shade of red that hugs my petite body and creates the appearance of curves. It's floor length and definitely black tie.
"It's perfect. I'll ring this up then we can get some lunch, yeah?" I ask Sarah who nods in agreement before picking her phone back up and checking her missed notifications. I really need to get myself more friends.
Although I know my father makes more than enough money to pay for this dress, I feel guilty at the thought of purchasing something so expensive that I'm just going to wear once.
Fighting back the desire to hang it back up, I force myself to the checkout counter and swipe my credit card. It literally almost feels like the silly piece of plastic gets lighter as the bank account suffers a large blow.
"So What are you hungry for?" Sarah asks me as we exit the shop. I take a look up and down the busy London street for any signs of a restaurant. To our left a ways I can the the sign for a French cafe so I point to it. "There, Hows That cafe sound?" I ask and Sarah follows my finger to where I'm pointing.
"Oh, c'est magnifique!" Sarah expresses, clapping her hands together excitedly.
We gossip as we make the short walk towards the cafe, my bag swinging idly as I skip down the lane.
For someone running on zero sleep, I'd say I'm doing very well. A sudden gasp from Sarah who's phone has somehow dropped from her fingers causes me to turn quickly to stare at her, my swinging sack colliding with a person as I do.
"I'm so sorry!" I apologize, searching for who I had just assaulted. "It's really no bother, Bella." Williams voice replies and I can feel the blood drain from my face.
"Bells, help me find my battery. It's popped off." Sarah whimpers, searching the busy street for the pieces of her broken phone and not even noticing the person that's speaking to me.
I pretend to be looking for Sarah's phone bits, but really my attention is locked on William.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him a little more bitterly than necessary. "The firm is just a block over, I'm picking up lunch for everyone. Or is that not allowed?" William holds up a sack full of food for me to see.
