With all the prepartion for the wedding, I realize I hadn't had any time for myself. Everyone has been running around like chickens with their heads cut off to get things done for the last minute wedding.
I waddle around my room while absentmindedly staring at the guest list. We didn't want very many people to be there, just our main family members. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, the only nine. I sit on the bed and sigh heavily. There is one person I hadn't been able to get in contact with since a few days ago. Ava Kross, I would love for her to attend my big day.
I pick up the phone and dail her number. She answers on the third ring, "Hello?"
"Hello, Ava? It's Sirrah."
She gasps, "oh my goodness. Sirrah."
"Yes, ma'am."
"It's so good to hear from you. How have you been? Oh, I feel like we've got so much to catch up on," she smiles.
"We do, but I'm calling for a different reason," I prop my feet up on some pillows.
"Oh no."
"No, no. It's nothing bad," I quickly clarify.
She sighs with some relief.
"I'm getting married in a few days and I wanted to know if you would like to join."
I hear her sniffling on the phone, "You want me to be there?"
"Yes, I do. You are my mother from what I understand."
"Are you sure that's what you want?"
"Yes, I am sure."
There is a pause.
"Hello?" I call out.
"I'm still here," she sniffles. "My baby is getting married."
"Yes, ma'am," I smile. "That's not the only thing," I rub my belly.
She gasps waiting for my response.
"I'm pregnant."
She squeals, "I'm going to be a grandmama again."
"A-again?"
"Yes, my youn- well, my middle daughter, "she giggles. "Has had a grandson a while ago."
I frown, "Oh."
"No, don't be sad. You're my daughter as well and I will love your child just the same."
"I'm having twins."
She screams, "Are you serious?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Have you picked out names?"
"No, Riki and I are still trying to decide on what to name them."
"This is so exciting. A wedding and a baby."
"It really is." I smile gently. "It really is. So, are you going to come?"
"I wouldn't miss it for the world, Sirrah. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
We talk a little more before my name is called downstairs.
