Arianna
Math was done, and no surprise, it was pretty boring. I did fairly well in Math, but it wasn’t a subject that held my interest. I was more of an English lover, especially when we had creative writing assignments. It was always easy to escape your worries and fears in a story, something I’d been known to do often. In fact, right this minute I was creating a very hot romance story about a black haired, dark eyed stud who wanted to ravish a raven haired, gray eyed female who oddly resembled myself.
“Ari, are you even listening to me? Where’s your head at girly?” Casey’s voice broke into my thoughts.
“I’m sorry, what were you saying.”
“I never thought I’d see the day that my no nonsense, straight forward best friend would be caught in the clouds day dreaming.” she said in awe.
Affronted, I denied it, “I was not daydreaming.”
She raised a brow at me, “Oh really, so what was that silly smile and fuzzy look on your face all about?” She asked, then getting serious she continued, “Are you on something I don’t know about? Have you been lighting up out back with the stonies?” she pulled me towards a set of lockers we were passing and started sniffing me like a police dog searching for drugs.
Pushing her back and taking a step away I said, “I was not! Stop doing that, it’s kind of creepy, and if I had been you wouldn’t need to get that close to me to smell it you nut!”
She stared into my eyes intently, probably trying to see if my pupils were normal, before relaxing, “Fine, then my original assumption was right and you were day dreaming..”
Not wanting to risk her coming up with another ridiculous thought as to the reasons behind my behavior, I remained quiet. “So, who was filling your thoughts and keeping you from my important conversation?” she asked, once again pulling me along towards the Cafeteria. We weren’t in a rush to get there, Adam had gone ahead to scope out some seats for us while we made a quick stop at the ladies room.
“I don’t exactly consider the comparison between a liquid and pencil liner important.” I muttered, see, I was paying some attention to what she was saying.
She sputtered at that, “Excuse me, but aren’t the eyes the windows to the soul? Do you want your’s to look drabby and bare? Of course you don‘t, thus the importance of the right liner. Think of it as the cute drapes that frame the window enhancing the beauty.”
I stopped in my tracks to stare at her with an incredulous expression, “You really are strange sometimes, you know that?”
Her only answer was an eye roll and a tug on my hand to move us forward. Once we entered the cafeteria, the atmosphere was a bustling one. It was pretty big, it had to be to accommodate over two hundred wolves, with circular tables that fit eight and set up much like a buffet. The food smelled delicious, and from what I could tell there was lot’s of it. Being that the metabolism of a werewolf worked double time, we needed double the suggested calories a day to keep us healthy and active, thus the massive amount of food. In honor of our first day of school, they went heavy on the meats, a wolf’s favorite, and from what I could see there were ribs, roast, chicken, and of course steak. My mouth watered in anticipation, and I was about to head over to make my plate when my name was called from somewhere in the middle of the cafeteria.
