Ashtyn
BANG!
My fist slams into the first thing I see as Josh, Gary, and Terrence finally release me from their hold.
“Damn, dad’s not gonna be happy about you putting a dent in his brand new door.” Josh jokes.
I begin pacing the length of the steps at the school entrance, completely ignoring him. Who the hell cares if the door is dented? My mate has been touched by that blonde douche she calls a ‘friend’, and if my so called friends had let me, I would’ve dented his face instead of the door.
A growl starts low in my chest, steadily building as images of Arianna naked, and writhing under someone who isn’t me plays in my head like a slide show. My gums start to itch and I know my canines are emerging.
“Dude, calm down!” Josh says, taking a small step toward me.
I once again ignore him as the memory of my mates touch on my thighs transform into a picture of her touching what’s his face, Anthony, Adrian, no Adam. Yeah, Adam’s thighs. By now my claws are forming and any minute I'm about to shift.
“Oh shit, he’s about ready to shift!” worries Gary, speaking my silent thoughts.
“Damn it, Ashtyn! Chill the hell out, I don’t want to order you but I will if you don’t listen to me.” Josh warns.
In the far corner of my conscious, I know Josh is trying to reason with me, but at the forefront of my mind all I can think about is Arianna and Adam. How many times have they been together? What parts of her body did he have the pleasure of enjoying? How far up his ass can I shove my foot? Before I can conjure any more unwanted thoughts, Josh is in front of me being careful of my claws.
“I didn’t want to have to do this, but you’re asking for it. Ashtyn, I order you to calm down and submit!” the authority in Josh’s voice carries the power of an Alpha, not the full force his father has, but enough to have me down on one knee with my head bowed, claws and canines retracting.
Once my body is back to my human form completely, the adrenaline that has been driving my anger vanishes, leaving me with an ache in my heart so painful I can’t breathe. Arianna has been with another, someone she holds close to her heart, a guy that means something to her. I know I’ve been with a lot of girls, but none of them had a hold on my heart. In the short time I’ve known Ari and Adam, I understood they had a close relationship, heck, she already admitted to me that he was important to her. How an I supposed to compete with that?
The weight of the world is suddenly on my shoulders as I remain in my crouched position.
“You good now, bro?” Josh asks.
I shake my head, eyes still fixed on the concrete ground below me, “Nope, not even close.”
I hear Josh dismissing Gary and Terrence, and the shuffle of their retreating feet as they walk away, then nothing but the leaves rustling in the wind can be heard. Josh makes his way to sit on the steps behind me and calls me over to join him. My wolf is silent as I once again obey him, and sit on the step next to the railing opposite of the one he is currently leaning against. I rest my head in my hands with my elbows on my knees, the picture of defeat.
As I wallow in my misery, Josh starts to laugh, not a belly aching type of laugh, but a laugh none the less. I swear if he wasn’t my future Alpha and best friend, I would’ve knocked him on his laughing ass right now, the glare I aim his way indicates as much.
If anything, he just laughs harder before saying, “Bro, if you’re going to spend the rest of your life with my cousin and survive it, you’re gonna have to know when she’s messing with you, and what just happened back there wasn’t even Ari at her best.”
