in my last year of university

we found a place together near the cafe

i said goodbye to my roommates

and moved in with you

it was a new chapter of

our lives and

i was excited

we settled into a

comfortable routine

in the day

we would go to school

at night

we would go to work at

the cafe

then return home

and cook dinner

together

it was not a lot

but in that moment

i was beyond

content

in our second year

together

you brought me back to

that field

haunting words on your lips

but none as haunting as

the

"i love you" you said

as you got down on one

knee and asked me on that 

starry thursday night

to be yours

forever
