JAKE'S POV

I was sitting in my office checking the file of the Metropolitan museum's case again, trying to find anything that would lead me to the criminal. She was good, like really good, she didn't leave any evidence behind her and I was pretty sure she had some help from the outside. The surveillance cameras and security alarms were all off at the time of the heist. I wouldn't leave this case until I bring her in, and whoever helped her.
I sighed before I rested my head on my chair and took a long, deep breath, I was trying to clear my thoughts, but suddenly I remembered a pair of two deep ice blue eyes, Sherry's eyes. I couldn't get her off my mind since the day we met, I kept remembering her eyes, her laugh, and her smirk. I really wanted to meet her again.
My thoughts were cut off by a knock on my door, followed by my best friend Agent Luke Harrison walking inside.
"I have a feeling that this case will drive you crazy soon enough," Luke said as he closed the door behind him.
"What do you want, Luke?" I asked him in annoyance.
"Well, there's some news about the painting," Luke said while handing me a file. I opened it quickly and found out that the painting had been sold in the black market with six freaking millions.
"Did you find the buyer or the seller?" I asked him, eagerly.
"Unfortunately no, we couldn't find any of them. We just knew from a source that the painting was sold out." He said with a disappointed look on his face. "I guess a rich art and antique collector bought it from the thief and the rumors spread up."
I sighed as I ran my fingers through my hair, "God, this case is really hard, but I'm not giving up. I will go and ask our sources about it, later"
"Yeah, whoever did it was really good," Luke said, sighing. "So forget about the case for now. Tell me about that girl you met."
A smile made its way to my lips when I remembered her, "Well, I haven't spoken to her since our date."
"You like her," Luke stated with a grin.
I gave him a confused look. "Luke, I only met her two times."
"Yeah, but it's really hard for a girl to capture your full attention and you nearly can't shut up about that girl," Luke said, explaining his point.
"She is just..." I started to say, but hesitated a little while trying to find the right word to describe her, "different, I guess."
"You know, I'm so excited to meet her, a girl who got you swept off feet is absolutely worth meeting," Luke said, laughing a little. I threw him a look that made him laugh even louder. "We could have a double date, Chloe would want to meet her for sure." He said with a large smile.
Chloe was his fiancé, they had been dating since forever, and he finally proposed to her last month.
"Don't you have work to do, Luke?" I asked him with a slight smirk.
"Well, I do have some paperwork and I'm avoiding it by sitting here. And the director would murder me if he found out so I better get going." He said, standing up.
Luke left, leaving me to my thoughts again. I decided to leave the case for now as it was getting late. I grabbed my SUV keys, the case's file, and I put my jacket on, then I walked out of my office. The building was quiet as most of the agents had already left for their homes. I made my way to the elevator and just before the door was about to close, someone stepped in, someone I wasn't very glad to see.
"Oh, hey Piers." The woman who just stepped in said, smiling seductively at me.
"Hi, Grace," I said, forcing out a smile. Grace was a rookie agent. And she has been a nightmare for me since her first day at the bureau. She tried everything to start something with me, but I stopped her. She wasn't my type, she was shallow and a total bitch. I have no idea how she even got accepted to be a federal agent.
"So, are you going home?" She asked me with a hopeful smile.
"Yeah," I answered, nonchalantly.
"I'm going to a party, maybe you can come with me and have some fun." She said with a smile, trying to look sexy but failed miserably.
I looked at her with the bottom of my eye before speaking, "Sorry, I can't. I'm really tired and I just want to go home."
The elevator stopped at the ground floor and I let out a breath of relief. I stepped out of it quickly before she could say anything else. I got out of the building and walked to my car, I got in and started driving home. I was thinking about Sherry through the whole drive. Finally, I grabbed my phone and decided to send her a text.
'Hey, Sherry. I was wondering if you would like to go out with me again.'
I received a text from her a minute later, 'Sure, pick the place and time.'
My smile grew as I read it. I told her that I could pick her up from her home tomorrow after work, then we could have dinner together and she agreed, making me jump for joy.
Well, maybe I was really starting to like her
