The Land Battle of Mobius

Imperial land forces did indeed surround the entire base. Their numbers couldn't be counted. Even if they had an estimate, they'd still be short a few hundred. Thrawn and Eggman saw the formations of the rebel army.

"Such meager defenses," Thrawn said, "heavy battalions, advance through the shield. Destroy their artillery, and mow down their infantry."

"TIE Maulers," Eggman said, "begin your assault. Stay covered by the AT-ATs until you can engage without being taken out by those heavy tanks."

The AT-ATs moved forward with TIE Maulers underneath.

"Great," Ezra said, "AT-ATs."

"They can't be that tough," Vector asked, "can they?"

"Well..."

Out of the ground launched Knuckles, holding a Chaos Emerald and facing the group.

"What's going on?" He asked, "It sounds like a thunderstorm from underground."

He turned around and saw the walkers. He then had an idea as they began breaching the edge of the shield. The tanks, artillery, and infantry opened fire on the many items passing through the shield.

"I thought you said that you would work on making a shield you can't walk through!" Zeb said to Sabine.

"I was going to give the blueprints to Tails," she replied, "but then the Empire came and now we're locked in battle!"

Knuckles and Vector ran into the fray. They leaped onto the right legs of one of the walkers and punched the joint as hard as they could. The legs snapped and the walker began to fall to that side. They leapt onto the walker next to the other one and did the same. Only they couldn't make a leap to another walker. They landed and were immediately surrounded by a dozen TIE Maulers. A turquoise aura surrounded the Maulers and they were thrown into the shield. Vector and Knuckles looked into the sky and saw Silver flying toward the shield. He slowed down and came through. He assessed the battle and flew toward several AT-ATs, lifting them up, tilting them, then letting them drop.

"Fascinating," Thrawn said, "a small force of reckoning, yet with individuals that make up for the lack of numbers. Reserve forces, advance."

The AT-STs, stormtroopers, and some scout troopers with speeder bikes advanced through the shield.

Back inside the shield, Silver, Knuckles, and Vector were finally taking the Empire's attention. A pillar of fire ripped through a section of TIE Maulers, blowing them up. Blaze had returned with the fifth Emerald. At this point, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Amy, Tails, Espio, Charmy, Ezra, Sabine, Hera, and Zeb entered the fight. Ezra and Sabine were fighting back to back, Hera was blasting stormtroopers with Zeb, Omega was letting his entire arsenal loose, Shadow was teleporting everywhere blasting everyone wearing white armor, Rouge, Charmy, and Tails were flying alongside Silver blasting  scores of enemies, Espio was stealthily running across the battlefield blasting troopers, and Amy was launching troopers everywhere with her hammer.

Everyone heard the boom of the sound barrier breaking, and then saw a blue blur circling the shield, troopers trying to enter being cut in half by a blue blade. Sonic finally stopped running, sidestepped into the shield and ran to find the others with their Chaos Emeralds. The five saw where he was heading, and went to join him.

"I'm guessing you all have Chaos Emeralds too?" He asked them.

"Yes," Tails answered, "but we're still missing one."

"That probably means it's somewhere in the base," Knuckles said, "let's find it!"

Ezra heard the whole exchange. He looked around a bit, but then looked where he was standing. He saw a glowing gem. He went to pick it up, when there was an explosion nearby. One of the TIE Maulers initiated a self destruct, sending many rebels flying. Ezra and Sabine were lucky to have only been knocked down. Ezra looked up and saw Eggman and Thrawn, surrounded by an army of stormtroopers. Thrawn, in shadows said one thing. That one thing completed Ezra's vision.

"No prisoners."
