"Really?I mean,why?"
Rachel pressed the phone harder to her ear,eagerly waiting for her mom's answer.
"Because sweetie,bills are getting harder to pay just for myself,and with you adding to how much money I need to earn for food is getting difficult,"her mom said quietly.
Rachel messed with the strings on her hoodie.Biting her bottom lip,her heart sank.
"Mom,you saying that tells me you really don't want me,"Raven fumed.
"No honey!I really want you to come back with me!However,if I can't have enough money to pay for you to have a happy life then you'll be taken away from me,you know that,"Her mom said soothingly.
Rachel sighed,"But....what if Trigon-
"You mean your father."
She gritted her teeth,"He isn't my dad."
The end of the line went silent,then she spoke up.
"Don't worry,your father will not lay a single hand on you,if he does,call me and I swear to call the police,"her mom said sternly.
"Alright,but as soon as you get the money,will you take me back home?"asked Rachel hopefully.
"Of course,I love you,"she cooed.
Rachel smiled,even though her mom couldn't see it,"I love you too."
She put end on her cellphone,pulling it away from her ear.Rachel knew she would be arriving in Jump City soon,so she grabbed her bag and pulled up her hood.Rachel stood up from her seat and waited for the train to stop.When it did,it came to a screeching halt.People pushed their way to the front,which caused Rachel to be pushed backwards.She soon found herself being the last one to get off the train.
'Note to self,next time,ride a plane instead,'Rachel thought to herself.
When she hopped off the train,people scurried across the streets and pushed each other just to get by.It was quite different then when she was living with her mother.Where Rachel use to live,it was quiet and no one really lived there.Only Rachel,her mom,and two other neighbors.So it was a really big difference when she came to Jump City.As she struggled to pass rude and stuck up people,she received many cuss words and middle fingers.
Rachel reached into her pocket to pull out a crumbled piece of paper.She scanned it,reading her destination.Rachel looked down streets and even asked people how to get there.Soon she found herself in front of a huge business building.A sign was bulletined on it,reading,
Trigon Inc.
Rachel sighed,now she knew how her father was so rich.She walked inside,inhaling the smell of business and vanilla.Many people scurried past her,running to the elevator.
'Looks like he's got his business crew working like slaves,'Rachel thought,eyeing the poor rushed people.
She slowly made her way to lady,which Rachel thought was the secretary,who was talking on the phone,writing stuff down in a notebook,and talking to some guy holding a briefcase.Talk about multi tasking.Rachel waited patiently for her,seeing to how busy she was.When the guy with the briefcase left and the secretary had finally finished talking,she sighed in relief.Then,looking up at her,she smiled.
"And what can I do for you hun?"she asked.
Rachel glanced at her name tag,then leaned against the counter.
"Hello Ms.Barbra,I'm Rachel Roth,"She said,introducing herself.
The secretary known as Ms.Barbra,gasped and wrote something down.
"Don't worry about an introduction hun,I know who you.Your father is taking a business meeting right now.He told me that if you showed up then to give you this,"Ms.Barbra explained,handing her another piece of paper.
Rachel took the paper and scanned it.
"Also,here is the key,your father has strict orders and demands that you keep that key in a place where you won't loose it because I'm not aloud to give you another,"she said,handing her a gold key.
Rachel sighed,she knew he'd do something like that.Ms.Barbra smiled and then took her talking to a whisper.
"But,if you do loose it,just tell me and I will get you another,"she whispered.
Rachel smiled,"Thank you.But I will be responsible and keep the key."
Ms.Barbra nodded and waved goodbye.Rachel did the same,throwing her bag over her shoulder.She stuck the key in her pocket and zipped up her hoodie.It was getting winter soon and she couldn't stand the cold weather.When Rachel glanced down at the paper Ms.Barbra gave her,she searched all around Jump City for the condo she was suppose to live in.Soon,she found it,standing in front of the really big Condo.The side's of Rachel's lips slowly inched upwards.
"This big condo?All to myself?"Rachel said aloud.
She slowly walked up the long steps and arrived at the door.Rachel slowly pushed in the key into the slot and twisted.When the door open,the smell of lavender hit her nose.Her favorite.She stepped in,gawking at the beautiful furniture and wall decor.It was all astonishing.Rachel looked around the huge condo,and it was all for her.She didn't have to share,no,it was all hers.Rachel finally made it to her room and sat her bag down.The room looked simple,white sheets,tan walls,a desk,dressers,lamp,and some pretty pictures.
Rachel smiled to herself,everything was going great so far.Maybe Trigon will get busy and won't show up often.Hopefully.Rachel glanced at her dresser to find a note.She reached out and took it,reading the print.
Rachel,you will not have to pay,for I have it covered.I will send in as much money as you ask for.Only it it's for a good reason such as food and clothing.

Rachel sighed in relief,at least he cares enough to bring money.She walked to the window and peeked out of it.Cars zoomed by and people shouted loudly.Rachel rolled her eyes.
"I really hope I can get enough sleep,"she muttered.
Rachel put all her clothes that could fit in her bag in her dresser.Afterwords,she slipped off her black converses and hoodie.She knew soon that she'd go to school.So Rachel headed to the computer in the living room and turned it on.With an apple in one hand,she placed her other hand on the mouse.She typed Google,then searched 'Jump City High Schools' As she waited,the search results soon came up.Of course,she chose the first selection.Which was Jump City High.
Rachel looked through all the High School's available and thought Jump City High was the closest and best choice.After an hour on the computer,her eyes ached and she could use some sleep.Stretching,she stood up and turned off the computer.Rachel shuffled to her room and changed,black tank top and blue shorts.She crawled into bed and under the covers,showering could wait until tomorrow morning.Turning on her side,the noises of the traffic and cars echoed through he ears.Making sleep impossible.
'How am I going survive this?'
