a week later
Ethan's POV

I pull up at Skye's house.

I grab my phone that was next to me.

I patiently wait for her to come down.

Everything's changed since that night. I don't know why I told her all that. Not even Gray knows about it.

The car opens.

I look to see Skye.

She shoots me a smile and my stomach started to feel funny. Where those butterflies?

"You couldn't have worn a shirt, huh?" She raised both of her eyebrows.

"Don't need one." I give her a cocky smile.

She looked at me, "you're unbelievable"

"Thanks." I lick my lips, "ready?"

"Hell yeah!"

"Okay." I start the engine to my car so we could leave to the beach.

I stand in front of her, hands on my hips, "are you just going to lay around the whole time?"

She looks up at me, her hand on her forehead to block the sun, "yes now can you please move."

I move out of the way and sit on the beach chair next to her. The water droplets dripping from my skin started to soak the fabric of the chair.

"Mind rubbing some sunblock on my back?" Skye hands me the bottle of sunblock.

I swallow a bit of my saliva, "sure."

I pressed the bottle so the cream could come out. She pulls her hair up and I start to rub some on her back.

I was feeling like a nervous wreck the whole time. Why? No clue. It's not like I've never rubbed sunblock on a girl's back.

The thing was, Skye isn't like any other girl. She was different. A good different. I've never felt the way I've felt these past few days with her. I don't know why but it's like when I'm with her all my troubles fade away.

"Done." I clean the sunblock off my hands with my shorts.

"Thanks."

I stand up, "I'm gonna go back in."

She pulls her sunglasses down a bit, "okay?"

I start to walk away but run back. My strong arms pick her up from the chair. I was now carrying her.

She starts to laugh, "Ethan let go."

I start to run into the water.

The cool water hits us.

I let go of her.

"I hate you, E." She punches my arm.

I stood there without moving. Like a dummy.

E? Did she just call me E? She hasn't called me E since we were friends. Well not mentioning the night she was drunk but she was drunk so...

"What's wrong?" Both of her hands where on my shoulders.

"You just called me E." A big smile popped up on my face.

She looked down, "so?"

"You only called me E when we were friends." I rubbed my face.

"Well we are friends, aren't we?"

I nod, "yeah. We're friends."

We had spent the whole day at the beach. Skye wanted to stay a little more to watch the sunset.

The cool water kept hitting our feet as we walked on the edge.

There was silence between us.

I glide my hand close to hers. I inched it closer so our fingers could intertwine with each other. I hoped this wasn't awkward.

I looked up to her and smiled.

She stopped walking and faced me, "what is up with you?"

I quickly look down then back up to stare at her eyes, "you're so beautiful."

She bit her lip and pushed a string of hair back with the hand I wasn't holding, "stop."

I intertwine the fingers on my right hand with hers, "no, no, no you're so beautiful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

She didn't say anything.

There was a small space between our bodies. I walked closer to close the gap.

Her chest moved up and down with every breath she took.

Without thinking I lean in so are lips where now touching. I let go of her hands and use them to cup her face.

It was a sweet kiss. It wasn't rough nor passionate. It was sweet.

I pulled away.

That's when it hit me.

I was falling for this girl.

I had to do something.

I had to call off the bet.
