The Secretary

Chapter Twenty Three

Max was happy when he signed the contract with the Walkers. He knew from the meeting that they had, that the Walkerson's metallurgy company was a good place to invest. From his research, the company was one of the top five in their country. It went down when the company money began to vanish mysteriously from the company's account. They later found out that one of their employee have been stealing the company which resulted to the employee being fired.

When the meeting was over Gabriel asked Max if they could talk.

"I want to thank you for accepting to work with us." Gabriel said with a huge smile on his face. His brown eyes were shinning with excitement. Max couldn't help smiling back at the old man.

"You are welcome besides I know that investing in this company will yield great result." Max and Gabriel shook hands with Gabriel patting his shoulder. Max looked around for Sandra and saw her in a corner with James. She was blushing a lot and she looked so beautiful. Max couldn't look away from her because of her beauty drew him close.

He got annoyed when he saw her laughing at what James had said. He could feel his anger building up the more she continue to laugh beautifully. He didn't know what made him to do it but the next moment, he approached where they stood glaring at James while he told her it was time to go. He made sure she was following him and they both went into the elevator. He continued to glare at James until the elevator doors closed.

"Sir is everything alright." He could hear her nervousness from her voice. In order to make her feel comfortable he smiled a forced smile.

"Yes Miss David, everything is alright." Just then his phone started to vibrate in his pocket, so he brought it out. He smiled broadly when he saw the caller ID, he picked it up immediately with excitement.

"Oh my baby, I missed you so much. So when are you coming to visit."

"Hello to you too." He said with a chuckle.

"This isn't funny Maximilian." He didn't like when his mom uses that tune so he knew he was in big trouble and they had a lot of talking to do.

"Am so sorry mom." He said in a voice that his mom couldn't resist. He heard her sighing on the other end.

"Okay son so when are you coming to visit?"

"I don't know mom." He said with a sad look on his face.

"But son the family dinner is this coming Sunday, please make effort to come." She said a pleading voice.

The elevator doors opened and they both stepped out. They both started moving towards the motel. "So who are you bringing to the dinner." His mom asked curiously.

"No one mom."

"Come on son, please just this once try to bring a girl home."

"Am sorry mom but no girl interest me mom."

After some minute of silence his mom spoke up. "Why don't you bring your new secretary to dinner, Abgail has being telling me a lot her and she seems like a lovely lady." Max groaned inwardly. He forgot that Abgail and his mom were so close and they always talk about almost everything talk able.

"Mom I don't think she would like to come and beside am sure she has lot of things to do on a Sunday night." He looked at Sandra and she was looking at the floor and walking slowly. She looked like she was thinking really deep about someone.

"Just try asking Maximilian and I expect to see you both on Sunday night. Love you son." She then hung up. He stared at the screen of his phone. He knew that tune of his mom which means that what she said is final.

"Miss David will you be free on Sunday night?" He asked. She looked up startled but she nodded after sometime.

"My mom insist that I bring you to dinner on Sunday so...how do you feel about coming to dinner with me on Sunday night?"
