"Nicki! Darling!" I heard a voice say, I looked up from my iPad seeing my boss Manuel perched in the doorway of my office, a smile on his face.

"Yes?" I answered sitting my iPad down on my desk, from the smile he had on his face I knew whatever had his attention would soon have mines.

"You know you're my star right?" Manuel asked, and I felt the slightest bit of uneasiness wash over me, I didn't let it show though.

"Mhm." I said keeping my tone light.

"I really can't trust anyone else with this darling, I would do it myself but I've got a meeting In Prague With MAC that's been months in the making." Manuel said, causing my mind to wander, he often took big projects, while the other artist and I took smaller projects and helped whenever he needed it. I was his right hand girl though, I could beat any face and he knew it.

"I know your work nic nac, you've always had a keen eye for details and this beat requires that, and your clientele is getting up there, but after this I'm sure everyone will want you...plus you don't get star struck easily." Manuel said, causing me to really get interested, he always recommended me to others but this seemed different for some reason, especially since he mentioned me not getting star struck easily, he was right though I didn't get struck easily, like some of the other artist who's asses got blinded, but not me, once you started seeing stars you get used to it.

"Okay so you need a beat Manny? I can do it, whose the client?" I asked pulling my iPad back out getting ready to start a profile once he gave me the information I needed.

"Beyoncé." Manuel said and I couldn't understand his tone...only because I was trying to make sure he really just said what I thought he said.

"Come again?" I said still somewhat in disbelief, there's just no way he said that name of all names.

"Beyoncé, darling." Manuel repeated and I finally realized he was completely serious.

"Doesn't SJ do her makeup?" I said, referring to Sir John, her resident MUA, I've only known him to do it, so this came as even more of a shock to me. I knew her camp was very tight knit and she rarely worked with new people.

"Yes hun but he's got some family issues going on, he called me about it but of course scheduling conflicts, I recommended you and he's actually a big fan of your work Nic Nac, he thinks your a perfect fit." Manuel said, and of course I felt a swell of pride knowing that my work was being recognized and received the way I'd always hoped for it to be. But I was still nervous, this was honestly the biggest job I'd ever been offered since taking up makeup.

"Okay, I'll do it when do they need me ?" I asked, my heart pounding with every word, I hadn't been this anxious in awhile.

"Excellent! And actually tomorrow, it's for the VMA's, she's performing and doing a red carpet appearance." Manuel said, my eyes widened, I did hear about that, which meant I only had one day...well really only tonight to gather a look and pallet for a red carpet and performance look.

This was pressure I wasn't used to. But lucky for me I perform well under pressure.

"But no worries sweetie, SJ was kind enough to send over a portfolio, so no stress over that, all you really need is to base your pallet off the theme and colors and handle business like you usually do." Manuel said with a smile, I sighed in slight relief, atleast I didn't have to do to much work. Basing a pallet shouldn't be to hard for her since I was getting the portfolio beforehand.
