(A few days later)

After what had happened with my parents, Kara had let me stay with her for a while. Even though her parents were super nice about the situation, I felt guilty. Of course I was grateful, but I just felt like I didn't belong. Milo was out of town and I wouldn't see him for the next two days, which wasn't helping. Kara and I were sitting on her bed, watching funny videos of dogs. She always knew these kind of things could make me laugh. But today, nothing made me feel better. I lay on her bed, staring at the wall. I had been wearing the same clothes for a while. Not that I wanted to, but because I didn't have anything else. Kara's parents were nice enough to wash them, but once again I felt guilty. Kara lays next to me, "Feeling down?" She says, turning on her side so our eyes meet. I nod my head slowly, "I wish Milo was back." I say. Kara sighs, "He'll be back in just two more days." She says, "In the meantime, we should do something fun to get your mind off of it." She brushes hair away from my face with a smile. I manage a small grin at the idea, "Like what?" She smirks, "We should take a road trip!" I flash a gummy smile at her excitement, "That sounds fun, but where to?" I say, curiously. She hums, looking off into the distance. "Well where do you wanna go?" She says, sitting up and leaning against the headboard. I sit up next to her and think for a few seconds, "We should go to Chicago!" I say, my eyes widening with excitement. Kara smiles, "Yeeeessss and then we can get pizza and stay in a nice hotel-" She starts listing off things we could do in Chicago, her eyes lit with excitement. I giggle as I look at her, feeling happy. "Wait, when would we leave?" I say, tilting my head a little. "Uh, tommrow?" She asks. I nod my head quickly, feeling butterflies in my stomach.

The next morning Kara and I wake up at 4:30 am and jump into her car. The drive would take about six hours so I made sure to bring some ear buds. I sit in the car, listening to music, when I get a text from Milo.
Milo: Hey, how are you?
I smile at the thought of him thinking about me. I missed him, but I was glad he would be back soon.
Raphael: I'm doing okay. I miss you :(
Milo: I know, I miss you too. But I'll be back soon
Raphael: Not soon enough ;)
Milo: Well when I get back I have a surprise for you ;)
I subconsciously smirk at the screen as I type out my response.
Raphael: Oh really?
Kara glances over at me, smirking. "Someone's in a good mood." She says, wiggling her eyebrows. I laugh as my face turns a light pink, "Milo texted me." I say. "oOoOoOoOooOh!" She says in a sing-song voice. "Shut up!" I say playfully. She laughs, "What did he say?" I smile, kicking my feet little. "He says he has a surprise for me when he gets back." Kara's eyes widen, "Is he gonna-" I cut her off, "NO!" She laughs, driving onto the highway. I put my earbuds in to keep from distracting her, listening to some music. After an hour or so, Kara taps my shoulder vigorously. "What?!" I say, taking my earbuds out. "We're in Illinois!" Kara says, bouncing in her seat a little. I laugh, looking out my window. We were defiantly in Illinois, you could tell from the landscape. There were bulidings and facilities everywhere. "We only have about an hour until we're in Chicago." Kara says, looking down at her GPS. I nod my head, "Where are we staying?" "BlueStar Hotels." She says, smirking and moving her shoulders around playfully. I giggle, "I'm excited!" I say, drumming my hands on my thighs. She laughs and glances over at me, "I am too. I still don't really know what were gonna do." I hum, tilting my head and thinking. "We'll figure it out as we go." I say. She nods her head, "And you'll probably call Milo." She says, playfully winking at me. "Uh yes. Yes I will." I say, laughing. We laugh and talk for a while, and we finally get to Chicago. I was so glad that Kara was the person I could be around all the time, but once again, I felt like nothing more than a burden.
(Author's note: Sorry for the short chapter! I wanted to get this out pretty soon, cause some pretty cool stuff is coming up)
