Today is my first day at work and I admit,I'm pretty excited for it. I went to school as per usual and later went to my workplace together with Woojin and Daehwi. Jinyoung had to get back home because of family matters so it was just the two others who accompanied me on my first day. Before I went there though,I changed out from my school uniform back at home before meeting up with the others outside the cafe.
The three of us went inside and were immediately met by the sweet aroma of newly baked cookies. I went behind the counter and into the staff room where I found what I assume is the new uniform for me. Of course I went to change into it right after and came out wearing a white buttoned up shirt,brown pants and a yellow apron. I've got to admit,the outfit kinda looks cute? At least in my opinion it does.
Anyways back to business. One of my coworkers was kind enough to show me around and give some help with the different machines and coffee makers etc. He later went back to the counter to continue to take orders after I had gotten the hang of making different kinds of drinks.
They actually tasted quite good according to Woojin and Daehwi. If you're wondering,yes I did force them to taste and test everything out but to make it fair it didn't cost any money for them. "Jihoon! Can I get another caramel macchiato?" Daehwi suddenly popped out in front of the counter. "Seriously? I've already given you way too many,Dae." I answered,internally growing tired of his sudden addiction. "Pretty pleaseeee~" He did aeygyo and tried to pull of cute puppy eyes. I gave up in the end for the nth time. "Woojin! Do you also want something to drink?" I asked while making,yet another caramel macchiato for Daehwi. "No thanks,I think my stomach is about to explode!!" He dramatically clutched his stomach and pulled off a pained expression.
I silently laughed as I began to make the drink for Daehwi. After I had given it to him,I went to the cash register since it was my turn to take orders. Customer after customer came and gave me their order. To be honest,taking orders at the counter was a lot easier than MAKING the drinks. I've never been good in the kitchen so that explains it.
More customers started to file in and I'm guessing we were a bit short on staff today since I somehow ended up at the coffee machine. Oh god,here we go...,I thought. I only knew the basics but I haven't had the chance to actually practice yet.
Everything went by smoothly today and nothing much happened. Well,I did mess up the making of an iced latte. That resulted in a big mess that I had to clean up while being super embarrassed.
There was also this guy that helped me clean up because I was just cleaning the same spot over and over again,apparently. The guy's name was Kang Daniel and he taught me how to make an iced latte the proper way. He was three years older than me and had already graduated from school. "Ask me if you need any help with the drinks,I don't want to have to clean up your mess again!" He teased and laughed at the end. "Okay,okay,just stop talking about it,will you?" I jokingly punched his shoulder.
We kept on with our small talks while working at the same time. Today has been a great day so far,I'm happy it turned out well at the cafe. I'm not entirely sure what I would've done if I didn't like it here,I mean who doesn't like free cheesecake? I'm just kidding,kind of,the staff does get to eat food from the menu during our lunch break but not as much as you may think though. If we were allowed to eat and drink as much as we'd like,then I'm certain Daehwi would've signed up right away here. Like,I mean,who can even drink so many caramel macchiatos without throwing up even once?
My shift soon enough ended for the day and I heaved a sigh of relief. The job is fun and all but I got slightly tired because the shift started soon after school had ended. I know for sure that I'm gonna keep this job and continue to work until I at least graduate from school,then I honestly don't know yet.
