| Lacy's POV |
It was around nine o'clock when my shift finally ended. I like to pick up as many shifts as I can, just to stay out of that godawful house.
I picked up my coat, preparing myself for the brisk October air and headed outside, waving goodbye to Mark, as he was the one who was closing up. As I was walking back to the house I decided to stop into the local ice cream parlour for a milkshake. As I opened the door a burst of warm air came flowing out. I sighed in relief at pleasant feeling.
"Hi, can I have a chocolate milkshake to go please?" I asked the barista, walking right up seeing as I was the only customer at the moment.
"Sure thing, and what size would you like?" She kindly responded
"I'll have a large, thanks," I replied. I had worked twelve hours today with only a short lunch break in between; I needed this after that stressful day. I sat down at one of the tables, waiting for my drink to be ready. I absentmindedly began to tap my fingers along the edge of the table.
"Large chocolate milkshake!" A different barista called out. As I got up to get my "dinner" I heard the door open. Not bothering to see who it was I began searching through my purse to try and find my wallet.
"Shit," I mumbled when I realized I must have left it at the restaurant.
"Here," I looked up to see a dark-haired guy with olive skin and-I must say-the sexiest cheekbones I have ever seen. He handed the cashier five dollars.
"Wow thanks, you didn't have to do that," I said, as I picked up my milkshake and followed him over to a table.
"It's no problem, I didn't quite catch your name, love?" He stated while a smile appeared on his face. He was absolutely dashing in every way.
"I'm Lacey, and you?"
"Zayn," he replied. "So Lacey, what are you doing in an ice cream shop this late at night?"
"I'm just getting off work and decided to stop for a second," I said as a small blush showed on my cheeks. He seemed proud that he made me blush and sat up a little bit further.
"So why were you-" he was cut off short by the sound of his phone buzzing in his pocket. He quickly took it out and examined the text. "I really must go but it was lovely meeting you. Do you mind if I get your number?" He asked, seeming to be in a hurry.
"Of course," he handed his phone to me and I inserted my name as Lacey Johnson :) and handed him back his phone. He smiled and said goodbye once more before briskly exiting the building. I stayed for a couple minutes longer, finishing my milkshake, before deciding I best be getting home.
The walk wasn't too long but as I saw myself edging nearer to the front porch I prayed that Dylan would be asleep or not even home at all. I slipped the key into the lock and slowly turned it, not wanting to risk waking him up.
I nimbly walked down the hallway after seeing him laying drunkenly asleep on the couch. I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I immediately locked the door; he could wake up any minute.
I stood in front of the morrow just looking at my reflection. There were bags underneath my boring brown eyes and my makeup was somewhat smudged. Little specks of acne poked through the foundation on my chin and forehead. My dirty blonde hair fell strait over my shoulders, reaching the bottom of my rib cage.
I sighed and turned around. I peeled off my clothes before stepping into the shower.

I awoke to bright sunlight peering in through my window. I looked at the clock situated on my bedside table, it read 11:26. Being as it was my day off I decided to enjoy it and got my laptop from the floor. This was Meg's old laptop and she gave it to me when she got a new one. It was pretty old but it worked fine for me; as long as I could watch Netflix I was okay.
When I opened up the laptop Netflix was the first thing to pop up. I pulled up One Tree Hill and began to watch. I was on season five and I am in love with this show! Before I knew it the episode had already ended and another one had started up.
About ten minutes into the third episode, my phone buzzed from its position on the floor. I picked it up, not bothering to look at the caller I.D.
"Hello?" I sighed.
"Lacey? Hey, it's me, Zayn."
"Oh hey Zayn! I was hoping to hear from you."
"Yeah, I know. My friends said I should wait longer before calling you but I really just wanted to hear your voice," he admitted, sounding embarrassed.
"Don't worry, I'm glad you called. I was getting pretty lonely just watching Netflix."
He laughed before saying "I was wondering if maybe you'd like to do something today?"
"Yeah, totally! What do you have planned?"
"Well, I was thinking we could meet up at the park or something and then we could go hang out with some of my friends," he stated, sounding very unsure about himself.
"That sounds lovely. Meet you there at two?"
"That's perfect, see you then." He exclaimed, sounding very excited. We then exchanged goodbyes and I began to get ready. I only had around an hour to get ready. I decided to curl my hair and put on skinny jeans with brown combat boots, a beige sweater and a maroon beanie.
Once I was done getting ready it was already 1:30 and I decided to start walking. I grabbed my phone and keys then decided it might be smart to take some money in case we went out somewhere. I got a twenty dollar bill I kept in my emergency stash and shoved it in my pocket.
I need to remember to go back to the restaurant to get my wallet. I walked out the front door and locked it behind me, my father still asleep on the couch. I began walking with a slight jump in my step. Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it.
