As I stepped out of the car my hair was blown out of my face and my cheeks were touched by the cold wind.
As I went inside the house it didn't feel right. Something feels off. Its probably just because of the long drive.
"Oh honey I'm so happy you're here!!" A high pitched voice rang to my ear as a blond hair woman engulfed me with an embrace.
I just stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. " Um. Yeah me too...?"
" You will love it here I promise." The woman said with an exaggerated voice.
"Hi babe!" My dad said to the woman while hugging her.
Oh so its her then. Huh? She looks decent. I was expecting her to look like a slut. I still don't like her though.
"Maddie this is Jessica, Jessica this is Maddie."
I just stood there awkwardly as Jessica eyed me.
"I really like your eyes. I'm inlove with the color gray." She said while staring at me. Ok then....
"What the f-"
"Mom is dad here already?" A voice which came from upstairs said.
"Lucas get down here and meet your sister." My dad demanded with a happy tone.
A tall blond guy emerged down the stairs. He's not that buff and not that skinny also. His hair has a golden hue just like Jessica's and he has a dark brown eyes while Jessica has green ones.
"Well this young lady right here is Maddie your sister." Jessica said in a sweet tone. Which is also fucking irritating me.
"You mean STEP sister." Lucas said in a harsh tone. " I dont wanna be related to that." He said straight to my face.
Well listen up you little shit it's a good thing we're on the same fucking page cause I also don't wanna be related to a fucking asshole.
Dad sent him a look and he quickly looked away not meeting his gaze while mumbling. Huh? Weird.
I just sent him a confused look. He just shurgged and left. Ok wtf.
"Oh Maddie I'll show you your room and let me help you carry those stuff."
"Uh thanks.. "
" I should go to my study and finish the papers." Dad said while excusing himself.
"I am really happy you're here Maddie. Having a new life won't hurt. Away from all the pain and the tragic past I just want to tell you that I'm really happy you're here. You will have a fun time and meet new friends." Jessica said while staring at me.
"What do you mean?" I ask clearly confused about what she just said.
Meet new friends? Your house is clearly in the middle of nowhere and is completely isolated.
Fun time? Nothing is fun about living with a problematic father, a try hard step mother, and an asshole brother.
"You'll see." Jessica grinned in excitement.
I just stared at her waiting for an explanation but nothing came.
"Your room is right across your brothers bedroom so if you need any help don't bother asking him. I'll leave you to unpack now."
" Uh sure.."
" Do you need anything else?"
"Oh uh no. Thanks though."
As Jessica was about to leave the room she stopped and looked back at me and with a serious tone she said " Oh and one thing don't trust anyone"
She then flashed me a smile before leaving. Leaving me alone with my thoughts and unanswered questions.
