She was cold her breath faint. The sound of her slowing heart beat drummed faintly in my ears. Her eyes glossed over as they still had warm salty tears streaming from them probably stinging her bruised and swelling cheeks as they did. I knew that the end of all her pain and suffering was near. The sweet release of death would take her freeing her of this hell. Closing her eyes I waited for it all to end helpless to avoid the inevitable.

Desperately I searched her memories looking for one of comfort. Instead I'm battered repeatedly with the memories of constant abuse from her mother. The torment from her peers and the crippling depression that she somehow managed to survive each day.

It was so overwhelming that my eyes filled to the brim with tears without me even realizing it until they began to flow down my face. This girl was pure hearted and even though she was given the wrong hand refused to hold it against anyone.

I began to cradle her small fragile body. It was obvious by her small form that she was ill fed. The flashbacks of her memories of when her classmates would call her anorexic and say she must be bulimic and bully her countless flooded my head. Taking a deep breath I shook them away from my mind as her bony fingers clasped lightly onto my dress shirt. Instincts kicked in as I began to hold her close to me as one would a small child. As I did I felt her heart had weakened. I soon lifted her from off the ground in a swoop and began carrying her gently of course up the steps from the basement we both resided in. I could tell she was about to be no longer of this world and if I didn't act fast it would be. So taking her with me was my only option. It was okay though where she was heading now she soon could forget all about her sad life and begin anew. "If only I had found you earlier. I could have saved you from this all a bit sooner my Alice." I whispered making my way up the stairs, stepping out of the basement door into an old dingy kitchen of the house. My sad smile on my face turned into one of disgust as I pass by her mother. Face down in a pool of her own blood I began to wish I didn't make her death so swiftly. I step away until I feel cold fingers wrap their way around my pant leg and ankle. "Don't take my Daughter" she choked out as she pleaded. I held the urge to rip out her throat back as I look down my lip curling with rage. The memories of the girl being severely beaten and starved on more than one occasion filled my mind and made my blood boil. If not for the girl in my arms I would have ripped the old hag apart. Rolling my shoulders and cracking my neck I pulled away from the woman. "How kind of you to care for your daughter now." I almost spat. "Where she is going doesn't even concern you, you only to wish to look like you care before you die. I will let you know she will live a better life then you ever will for where you go, you will rot for an eternity. Let the imps and hellish otherworldly beings feast on your soul and let you feel the torment you gave her every day." With that I proceeded out the door of the house the young girl in my arms. Carrying her to her new home.

When I arrived home I come to see my old run down home in the woods. It looked like it was in desperate need of attention but home none of the less was home. Though it remained quiet these last few thousands of years I was more than happy to see it. A familiar face greeted me at the door annoyance apparent in his face as his green eyes pierced their way into mine. "Now where the fook have you been?" His anger beamed until his eyes flew down to the unconscious girl in my arms who now had a steady heartbeat since stepping through our world's barrier. "Is that?" he began to ask when a nods of my head interrupted him causing him to trail off. His hand flew to his head pulling his beanie he wore to cover the obvious tears that had begun to flow down them as I walked past. Turning down a familiar hall of the house, then into a distant familiar room I placed her down on a bed covering her up in a blanket. Walking out I closed the door whispering "Welcome home Alice, we missed you."
