Will sat at a wooden table, tousling his blonde hair. "So... What exactly are we supposed to do to solidify these strings or whatever and make them parts of a ship again?" He growled exasperatedly.
Magolor was pacing around the kitchen, stopping only to refill the mound of shortbread cookies he had in his hands. "Well, Drawcia said she could try making a replicate part, but I don't know if the Lor would even accept that."
"What do you mean? It's just a ship, right?" Will stared at the Halcandran, rubbing his temples.
"Well-"
"Let me guess, not quite," he sighed, hunching back in his chair. "Forget I even asked."
Magolor's ears drooped, and he floated over to where Will was sitting. "Here," he mumbled, holding out a cookie, "Take it."
The corner of Will's lips rose into a tired smile. "No thanks, I got those for you guys in the first place."
Drawcia was painting Alice's nails absentmindedly on the olive couch, and Galacta Knight had fallen asleep with a donut in hand beside them. Rain pounded down on the window, swirling into minuscule currents that trailed off the glass and into the murky abyss of the night. Marx was watching another zombie show, and Gryll was busy making a late night supper for everyone. Just an average night, Will reflected. I could get used to this.

However, as he had come to learn, those nights never lasted long enough to enjoy them anyway.

The first sign that something was about to happen were the knocks at the door. Imperceptible at first, before turning into a deep, rattling sound. "I'll get it!" Marx declared, launching his small body at the door with surprising force. Opening it with his wing creakily, he found himself staring up into the deep orange eyes of someone he'd never seen before. "...Who's this kid, Mags?" He whispered.
The stranger fiddled nervously, wringing out their six gloved hands and shivering. "H-hello, there, I was wondering if-"
"Taranza!" Magolor suddenly gasped, his eyes shining bright. "I thought we'd never cross paths again!"
Taranza looked both relieved and fearful to see someone he knew. "U-uh, hello! As I was saying, could we possibly—"
Magolor tugged Taranza indoors, and ruffled out his snow-white hair. "At least dry off first! Gryll, hurry up with the meal!" He called out.
Will had locked his eyes on Taranza, who was noticeably unnerved by this commotion. "Sit," he grumbled.
Taranza scooted his way next to Will, and avoided eye contact, wringing out his velvety scarf.
"Okay, look. I'm tired, and I want to scream right now because there isn't supposed to be more of you guys, but you wanted to say something, right?" Will said monotonously.
Taranza gave him a quick nod. "...A deal," he mumbled, barely audible over the excitement and disarray of the other Bad Bloods.
Will groaned. Here we go again. "So, what's this deal we're talking about?"
Taranza finally lifted up his head to get a proper look at the blonde-haired boy. He had noticeable bags underneath his coal-coloured eyes, and was gripping the table with his fists. Breathe, Taranza. You can do this.
"Well," he began, "I'm here visiting this planet with my dearest Queen, who has taken quite an interest in it. However, somewhere along the way, we lost an artifact of great importance to—" Taranza quickly stopped speaking. Will looked like he was about to snap as soon as he had uttered the words "lost an artifact".
"Oh, no," Will laughed, "We've already got that task on our plate."
"T-The only thing is," Taranza gulped, "This artifact could severely hurt the population of "humans" that live here on your planet."
Will stopped scratching at his eyes for a few moments. "...So, it's less of a deal and more of a command to find this thing, and you actually managed to say human right," he rambled.
Taranza appeared confused. "...Can no one else in this room really say human properly?"
Will looked over at Alice, who gave mouthed them a quick good luck and went to help Gryll get everything onto some plates. "Except for her, nope."
Taranza weakly smiled. "Huh. So, uh, what do you say about all this?"
Will stared at him intensely. "What would we get out of this? I'm not taking on anyone else unless they can bring something to our team."
Taranza chuckled, and pulled his verdant green jacket closer around him. "I-I would help you guys find it, and try and help with whatever else you're doing, because it seems you guys are caught in an artifact hunt of your own."

Marx suddenly sat himself down on Will's plate with a thud, interrupting the discussion. "Are you guys saying we have a new member?" He asked, his eyes filled with glee.
"W-wait, member?!" Taranza stammered, taken aback. "T-this is a partnership, nothing mo—"
"Welcome, Spider-boy!~" Marx giggled.
"There's no escaping this now, "Taranza"," Will chuckled. "Welcome to the Bad Bloods, pal."
Taranza looked faint. "W-Where will I stay?! W-Wh... What?.."
Magolor clasped his hands together happily. "This house has plenty of nooks & crannies! Or, you could just steal G-boy's bedroom since he sleeps on that couch all the time and doesn't do much else," he snickered.
"...You'd better not be threatening to kick me out of my room so a stupid arachnid can sleep in my bed," Galacta Knight grumbled from across the room. "And what on Halcandra is that horrendous nickname?!"
"...Maggie has a point," Gryll added, setting out plates of reheated fried chicken on the table. "To be honest, you haven't done much apart from sleep, steal our hard-earned food, and then complain about everything we've done for you."
She had only finished speaking when an olive couch cushion whipped her across the face. "What was that for?!" She snarled as Galacta Knight angrily pulled himself up onto a chair.
He gave no answer to her question.

Thankfully, the rest of the meal was spent with mostly everyone excitedly chatting to Taranza and arranging where he'd stay. Eventually, he relaxed in his chair, and even began chatting with the others to a certain extent. Good, Alice thought, he seems comfortable now. I guess Will cleared a few things up with him.
She now turned her attention to Magolor and Galacta Knight, who were trying to have a "quiet" heated discussion.
"Look, I'll do anything to get that stupid room back," Galacta groaned.
Magolor acted as if he was thinking what evil punishment to bring down upon the knight. "Anything?.."
"Duh!"
You could easily imagine a smile creeping across his face as he simply whispered the words, "Then, perish."
Before Alice could react, Galacta had thrown himself at Magolor across the table. The two began wrestling on the hardwood floor, and Marx was excitedly shouting praise at the Halcandran mage.
Alice couldn't help but giggle as an exhausted-looking Will was forced out of his seat to grab Galacta Knight, who flailed wildly in his grasp. "Not today, G-boy," Will snickered triumphantly. Magolor and Marx started cackling, and Taranza chuckled softly, collecting everyone's cleaned plates.
"Thank you for the lovely meal, Gryll," he called out, yawning. "I'll be going to bed here, if that's fine with you lot."
"Of course, pal!" She replied cheerfully. "Good night, y'all!" Adjusting her shimmering violet hat, she trudged up the stairs to the guest room where she was staying.
Will threw Galacta Knight onto the couch, and took away the remote. "You'd better get some sleep," he advised, "or else things are going to end up the same way tomorrow. I don't want to have to wake up at 3:00 AM because you couldn't fall asleep and decided to watch some TV."
Galacta Knight grunted something about destroying planets, and burrowed himself underneath the cushions.

Finally, everything was quiet. Alice stood by the stairs, and the two of them walked around, making sure nobody was plotting any evil devices or schemes. Magolor had fallen onto the floor, still sleeping, Marx was suffocating his pillow in a death grip, Gryll and Taranza had both gone to sleep comfortably, and Drawcia... She was still up painting something. "Oh, hey," she greeted them, "I'll be going to bed once I finish this. Get some sleep, will 'ya?"
Will just about made a mad dash to his room, and threw himself on the bed. Finally, some sweet, sweet solace!
Within five minutes, he was knocked out. Alice giggled quietly, and shut the door, leaving him to get some shuteye.

The next morning, sunlight snuck in through the curtained windows, stirring the brown spider from his deep slumber. Ugh... Here we go, he thought to himself. Draping a beige blanket around himself, he refastened his scarf around his neck and wandered downstairs.
"Oh! The handyman's up!" Marx chirped with a seemingly innocent smile across his face.
"Did you sleep well?" Magolor inquired.
"Ah, um, yes!" Taranza replied, startled.

Gryll walked over, holding a plate stacked with sizzling pancakes. "Whooo's hungry for some of these bad boys?" She called out.
Will, who now looked much more well-rested, rose his hand eagerly along with everyone else. Gryll laughed. "Everyone here, then? Alright!" She got to serving everyone breakfast, as they joked and chatted the morning away.
Galacta Knight simply observed them from the couch. He didn't feel that hungry, anyways.
