"Stop grinding your thoughts into dust. I can hear them from here. Don't worry, you won't lose me." Yoongi says softly, and even after all this time he's able to read Jeongguk like he's able to read Yoongi.
"How can I trust those words." Jeongguk says bitterly with a sarcastic laugh added to the end. He deserves to be a little petty after what happened. Nonetheless, he takes a seat next to him.
"Okay, okay sassy baby. Don't shit your diaper." Yoongi says mockingly, and even if Jeongguk is a little irritated mixed in with a plethora of different emotions, he can't help but smile.
"Still using that vulgar language of yours I see." Jeongguk says tenderly, grabbing one of Yoongis hands in his and placing it onto his lap. He started to twist the many silver rings adorning different fingers and admired how nice Yoongis hands were. Even though Jeongguk has done this a million times before, he never took the time to study Yoongis hands. Delicate and soft, just like a kitten.
"You make it sound like I was gone for years." Yoongi adds, voice quiet.
"To me, it felt like that." Jeongguk admits, and the only thing keeping him from crying is the known weight in his lap and the warmth emitting from familiar skin.
"I'm --" Yoongi starts but Jeongguk cuts him off.
"Don't apologize. Its already too late for that you know. And I'm sorry is just a social construct. Words without meaning." Jeongguk says. Yoongi doesnt say anything more, a silence taking over the room as he watches Jeongguk continue to play with his fingers.
"What if I want to say it, you brat." Yoongi tries to say jokingly, but it comes out strained and breathless. He isn't sure were to start. With Jeongguk, hes straight to the point and loves to confront people on problems that need to be fix. Yoongi was the complete opposite, the person to run away from any conflict and hope it goes away by itself. He likes to think that they didnt work out because they were so different in that way. While Jeongguk was able to openly say 'I love you' to the people who he held dear, Yoongi was never able to face his feelings.
But he met Park Jimin, a boy who had the crescent eyes when he smiled on a sunny day in the park, popping bubbles and laughing along with kids. The only thing he regrets is not telling Jeongguk he loved him back before it was too late, but he doesn't regret meeting Jimin.
Meeting Jimin was able to help him be brought out of his high walls and openly show affection, telling the people he loved, that he cares for them deeply. He only wished Jeongguk could've been the person to do so, so that he didn't have to suffer through the fact that even though he gave his whole heart to the older, it didnt seem to affect him like Jimin has.
So where was Yoongi to start when everything would hurt Jeongguk even more?
"Why." Jeongguk whispers, and Yoongi knows to not interrupt him when he's in an emotional daze like this.
"Why did you have to leave me? Why couldn't you have ended it earlier? Why did you have to go with someone else? Why do you have to be so selfish? Why did you have to make this more dramatic than it was? Why have you drawn out our story when it was meant to end chapters ago with a happy ending? Why? Why?" The youngers body racks with his hard sobs, his hunched over figure looking like the same little Jeongguk in his family pictures. Yoongi can feel the salty tears hit his hand that lays upon Jeongguk's lap, who holds it tightly in his own two hands.
