Friday rolled around quickly and Jac was starting to regret her decision. She hated weddings and she knew going with him could get them both into some difficult situations. He had promised her that they didn't need to kiss or go too extreme, maybe just a little hand holding if she felt comfortable but she was still scared witless. Not that she would admit that to anyone of course. She was now sat in her office, an hour before the end of her shift debating whether to text Fletch and pretend Emma was ill so she couldn't go anymore. Oh I can't let him down now after all he's done for me, it's only a day, she told herself stubbornly. The surgeon tucked her phone away in her scrubs pocket and picked up her pen to continue her paperwork.

At 4.30 pm Jac packed up her things and made her way to the locker room to get changed so she could go home. That gave her half hour to drive home and throw in her last minute things into her bag and freshen up her makeup. Plenty of time, she thought as she slammed her locker door shut and made her way out to her car. It was a short drive home and everything was pretty much packed and in the hallway ready for her weekend away by 4:50 so she sat on the sofa, scrolling through the rubbish people posted on social media. She stopped when she came across a photo that Fletch had posted of himself and Evie with the caption "Personal baby sitter jks love you my not-so-baby-anymore". She smiled at the love shared between the father and daughter which was shown in the simple photo of them pulling faces and prayed that she would have a relationship like that with Emma still when she got older. She hit the "like" button and carried on scrolling until she heard the doorbell ring. Jac jumped up and went to open the door to find Fletch stood grinning on the doorstep.
"Ready, Ms Naylor?" He asked brightly.
"As ready as I'll ever be." She gave him a sarcastic smile back.
"Oh cheer up, what's not to like about spending a whole weekend with me?"
"Everything."
"You keep telling yourself that, darling." He smirked.
"Darling?" Jac spluttered.
"That's what I said wasn't it?" He smirked again.
"Ugh get out of my house will you." She said and pushed him down the path in a playfully rough manor. She couldn't bite back her smile at their messing around. Jac locked her house up and followed him to the car and watched as he hauled her bag into the boot. They climbed into their respective seats, Fletch taking the drivers seat and off they went.

Three hours and two U-turns later the pair arrived at their hotel, exhausted but still not at each other's throats. They checked in swiftly with no problems at all, much to Jac's surprise and set off in the direction of their rooms. They found that the second room had to be accessed via the first room as there was no door out into the corridor but neither complained. Fletch hauled their luggage in through the door, much to Jac's disgust after arguing that she was perfectly capable of carrying her own things, and he flopped down onto the bed on his back.

After a few moments of silence, Fletch sat up and found Jac stood at the foot of the bed glaring at him with her arms folded across her chest.
"Uh uh, Mr Fletcher." She said shaking her head like she was speaking to a child. The woman lifted her arm and pointed to the other door. "You can take that room thank you."
"Ugh fine. Anything for you Your Majesty Naylor." He said rolling his eyes and pushing himself off of the mattress. As he entered the other room she lifted her case up onto the bed and pulled out her outfit for tomorrow. She had bought with her a black smart jumpsuit and black heels. Jac hung it up inside the wardrobe to hopefully get the creases to drop out and then took her wash bag to the bathroom to set her toiletries out.

She had just taken her shampoo out of the bag when the door opened a little wider to expose a sheepish looking Fletch.
"Uh I think we've got a shared bathroom, sorry Jac." He said sounding awkward.
"Er I guess we can live with that." She reassured him.
"Okay great." He gave her a quick smile. "Also that dinner I promised you, it's nearly 9 o'clock. So what do you want to do?"
"Up yo you." She shrugged and turned to face him.
"McDonald's?" He offered and received a smirk and a roll of the eyes.
"You really know how to treat a woman Fletch but yeah fine just this once. And don't tell Emma, I'm not a hypocrite."
"Ready now?" He asked and she nodded. She followed his lead out of the room and down the corridor to his car, picking up her handbag on her exit.

The drive to the nearest McDonalds was short and silent, the only sound filling the car was the satnav barking directions at them. Fletch pulled into the car park and shortly after they were sat with their food in front of them in the corner of the fast food place. They'd picked a table as far away from other people as possible.

"So uh," Fletch started, unsure of how to word it. "I think we need to discuss what's gonna happen tomorrow. We need a story."
"Mm." She replied putting a chip into her mouth.
"So how did we meet?" He asked.
"Through work. Keep it as real as possible."
"Okay. How long?"
"How long what?" She questioned with a raised eyebrow. He rolled his eyes.
"How long have we been together?" She shrugged her shoulders. "8 months?"
"So I'm guessing Abi McBitchFace doesn't come into this then?" Jac smirked.
"Ouch Jac. But no, she doesn't need to be mentioned.
"Okay. So no kissing at all tomorrow. That is not acceptable if I'm doing this. Handholding, yes some is allowed but not too much." She said sternly.
"Yes Sir." Fletch spoke and mock saluted her.

They finished their food and Fletch drove them back to the hotel. Once they were back in their room, they both flopped backwards onto Jac's bed, laid side by side.
"That actually wasn't too bad." Jac spoke, referring to tonight's dinner.
"Mm I thought it was very nice." He said with a smirk and then sighed heavily. "I'm exhausted."
"Me too." Jac replied and kicked off her shoes. She crawled up the bed and with no energy to try and get Fletch off she left him where he was. It only took a few minutes for them both to be snoring lightly in a peaceful sleep.
