Jac stood on the doorstep of the Fletcher's house at exactly 9 o'clock on the dot, tapping her foot impatiently.
"Jac? What are you doing here? I thought I was taking Emma to the crèche today." He asked as he opened the front door to see his friend stood there.
"Yeah well I decided to come get her early instead." She replied quietly as she stepped into the all too familiar house.
"Where's Fletch?" He pushed.
"Emma! Time to go home baby." She called her daughter, blatantly avoiding Sacha's questioning.
"Is everything okay Jac?" He pushed again.
"Yes everything is fine, thank you for having Emma to stay, I'm sure she had a wonderful time." The surgeon avoided her friend's attempts at making eye contact and ushered the child out of the door. "Come on Emma let's go and get you in the car."

Jac rolled her eyes as she heard Sacha following them down the garden path. She strapped Emma into her car seat and shut the door. As soon as the little girl was out of earshot Sacha spoke again.
"Everything isn't fine. Can't you just talk to me for once? I want to help Jac." Sacha pleaded.
"Fine it's not okay. But I don't want to talk about it now. I'll come to yours tonight, I just want to get away from here before he gets back."
"Too late..." Fletch's car pulled up behind Jac's.
"Oh for Christ's sake!" She yelled and tried to run around to the drivers side before he got out.
"Jac I don't know what happened but please, I think you two clearly need to talk about it." Sacha protested. "If you get in that car and drive away right now, this could be the end of your happy ever after. Just think about that."

The surgeon paused with her hand on the handle.
"Jac..." Fletch's voice called, prompting her to pull the door open and climb in angrily.
"Mummy are we going home now?" Emma asked her mother from the back seat. She put her seatbelt on and started the ignition when she heard a knock on the window. The woman turned to see the man she loved with a pleading look on his face looking back at her. "Soon baby. I'll be back in a minute."
Grumbling under her breath she got back out of the car and slammed the door behind her once more.
"I'm only getting out because I don't want Emma to hear us arguing."
"I don't want to argue Jac. I want to apologise." He paused to grab hold of her hand but she pulled back and shoved them into her pockets. "I'm sorry...I shouldn't have exploded like I did. I shouldn't have said all that stuff. I know I made a huge mistake by getting with her, I knew it from the moment I first kissed her. But I missed you so bad and I thought that she would make the pain go away. But she didn't. I'm sorry. Please stop running."
"I'm sorry too...I'm sorry for keep bringing it up. I'm sorry for walking out on you, back all those months ago and earlier in the hotel."
"Are we okay now?" He asked carefully and held his hand out for her to take. She stepped forward and kissed his lips, linking their fingers together.
"Is that a good enough answer for you?" She asked when they pulled away.
"I think so Ms Naylor." The nurse replied with an enormous smile. "Right let's go and get Theo and then we can head over to the hospital."

As the couple parted ways, Jac turned to face Sacha who was still stood on the pavement watching them.
"Happy now Mister?"
"Very." He replied with a grin. "That was worth it wasn't it?"
"Sure whatever Levy. I'll see you later." Jac called over her shoulder as she climbed back into the drivers seat, this time with a smile on her face.
"Mummy?" Emma piped up, reminding her mother that she had just witnessed them kissing.
"Yes Emma?" She replied with a sigh. Here come the questions.
"Are you Fletch's girlfriend?" The girl asked innocently.
"Yes baby." The surgeon started the engine and pulled away from the house.
"Okay."
