August 8th 1643

When I embarked on this adventure I knew not what I would encounter nor did I believe the superstitious tales the locals told. Captain Ster promised I would see things my mind would not comprehend. I fear that promise has come true. In one week I have seen a man die at my feet only to stare him in the face a day later, alive and well. I've watched sane men fall into a stupor and throw themselves to monsters disguised as ethereal creatures. I escaped the claws of a man who, for several nights, had turned beastly and murdered innocents in a village we passed through before witnessing a silver stake plunged into his chest. I have seen ghosts that devour the living. I have seen. . . I have seen. . . Things that I shall carry with me until I reach the grave. The world is far bigger than I previously realized. I only pray no other sees the things I have seen.

Sincerely,
John white
