Only one day out of the four of your scheduled days with the Kesley's had passed and it already felt like It would be an eternity until you'd be back in the comfort of your own home.

It wasn't like your stay had been uncomfortable thus far, in fact, the Kesley's were being beyond hospitable, so you couldn't really figure out why you felt so out of place.

Maybe it was just the change of setting. Perhaps the change of pace. The quiet farmland of Reiux, France was much different than the busy streets of Seattle you had grown accustomed to.

Possibly it was just the trip in general. It was infrequent that you ever travelled to places you were familiar with and stayed there for more than a day. But couldn't remember It ever being so off putting on the occasional you did so.

It didn't take you long to come to the feelings actual source: you'd never been on a trip like this without Carswell with you. On all of the trips you had gone on since being rescued, Carswell had always been by your side.

It hadn't been a battle to fall asleep the night prior, you had been unreasonably exhausted and you were nearly dreaming before your head even but the pillow. nearly

But tonight sleep seemed to escape you. All you wanted was for him to be there with you, his arms gently wrapped around your body, and the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest lulling you to sleep, all the while inhaling the calming mixture of scents that together created the smell of Carswell Thorne.

Stars, you missed him.

Atlas seemed to miss him too. Ever since you'd said goodbye to Carswell his movements had become fewer and farther inbetween, and, when he did move, he was mostly just shifting positions instead of the frequent kicks and pokes you'd grown accustomed to.

Of course, our of all the times you couldn't fall asleep Atlas was dormant.

After a few more moments of willing sleep to come, your port vibrates.

New Message from 'Captain'.

You eagerly open it.

Captain: I miss you :(

You feel your lips curl into a smile.

You: I miss you too :(

Captain: I miss you more :(

You: I miss you so much I can't sleep :(

There was a longer than usual pause before his next reply.

Captain: ;))

You can feel heat rise to your cheeks.

You: Captain, I didn't mean it like that

Captain: ;))

You: Stop! I swear I didn't! Besides it's not like we could do anything anyway even if you were here.

Captain: What do you mean??

You hadn't meant to bring it up, and you debate whether to even reply at all.

Captain: Cress, don't even consider not telling me what's going on. You're making me worried.

You: It's nothing, I just think I might have lost my mucus plug earlier today. It's fine though.

You nervously await his response.

Captain: And why didn't you tell me when it happened?

You: I didn't want you to be worried. I looked it up and apparently it's really common to lose it multiple times or even long before giving birth. I even called Dr. Gray and he said it was nothing to be worried about.

Captain: You could've just explained it to me earlier Cress. Please just tell me things, okay?this

Even though he's seemingly dropped the argument you can tell he's still sense his discomfort.

You: You're still worried about it though, aren't you.

Captain: Fine... I am.

You: Carswell, I promise that it doesn't mean anything. It's probably just due to a change in setting.

You can sense that he's still not happy with your response.

You: Fine. I'll make a deal with you. If you stop worrying about this one insignificant occurrence then you'll be the first to know about anything else that happens, even if it doesn't matter. Okay?

Captain: Deal.

The chat ends and you lay back down less satisfied than you'd been before. You're about to shift positions for the hundredth time when you hear your port vibrate again.

Captain: I'm sorry.

You: Me too, I should have told you. I just didn't want you to worry.

Captain: I know, and I shouldn't have gotten weird about it. You know that I trust you, right?

You: Of course! And you know that I trust you, right?

Captain: Yes ma'am :)

You: Then we should stop being like this. I promise it won't happen again, even after the deal is done, okay?

Captain: I appreciate that, and I promise that I'll stop being worried all the time. It's just weird that I'm not there with you :(

You: I know, but it's only a few days until everything will be back to normal.

Captain: Until then, I love you :)

You: I love you too :)

Captain: Now that that's settled, you need to rest, I'll comm you tomorrow, okay?

You: I'll be waiting :)

Captain: Goodnight, and remember the deal :)

You: Of course, Goodnight.

With your mind finally cleared and Atlas settled in for the night, you're finally able to get some shut eye.

Eek I'm so sorry this took so long to get out and I apologize if it's a bit crap™ and basically all dialogue and very short because I had ideas for this but I forgot them because I never had time to actually write them.

I hope y'all fellow Americans had bomb Thanksgivings (those of you that celebrate it) and I just want you guys to know that I'm so thankful for all the encouragement I've received to keep updating (Also thank you for 7k reads my mind is literally exploding right now).

Unfortunately, the next update might take a bit of time because the end of the semester is coming up for me and ya' girl is trying to get that 4.5 GPA. But, the silver lining is that Christmas break starts next week for me and I might have time to finish the next update in that time of I remember to!

Thank you so much for not being mad at me for slacking off on this story and hopefully the next part won't take me 3 while months to write and WILL ACTUALLY BE GOOD (actually though I think it's gonna be pretty spicy).

On that note, Happy Holidays, Merry Chrysler, and good night (say it back).
