Payton's POV~

"Sky that was great!" I said as I highfived the small girl hopping off the beam. She grinned.

"Thanks Pay!" She said as she hugged my legs.

I laughed and looked at Hayes, he laughed too. She ran over to Hayes and double highfived him with a giggle.

As Skylynn walked away Hayes took a step closer to me.

"So I'll text you later?" He said casually.

"Well that depends on if you have my number" I said with a teasing smile.

He gave me an eyebrow raise which caused us both to laugh, to the point that tears were running down our face.

I gave in eventually and we traded numbers.

"Bye Sky" I shouted and waved.

She waved as she grabbed her mom'a hand and turned.

"I'll text you" Hayes said with a turns nod a wink.

"Can't wait" I said with a smirk.

I walked away, satisfied with myself.

Hayes POV~

I walked back to the Parked SUV, my mind filled with thoughts. As I reached the front seat I saw Nash with a grin on his face. He rolled the window.

"Shot gun" he said, mocking me.

"Hayes just get in" mom said. I pulled the door behind Nash open and slid in next to Sky.

"Do you like Payton?" Sky asked with a giggle.

"What?! No!" I replied a little to fast.

"Oooo Hayes has a girlfriend!" Nash chanted.

I rolled my eyes and stared out the window, blocking the voices out.

Payton's POV~

I hopped into the black SUV to hear "Break free" my new song. (Ik it's Ariana grande song but just go with it lol)

My brother Ryan started to sing.

"This is the part when I break free cause I can't resist it no moreee" he sang in a, well, awful voice. I was the only one that got the singing gene.

I laughed and he did too.

"I'm proud of you, ya know" he said in all seriousness, taking his eyes off the road for a glance at me.

"Thanks" I said softly.

We pulled up to our house and I slide out of the seat.

"Mom still pissed?" I asked keeping my eyes on the ground.

He nodded.

"Yea," he said slowly,"so don't push her buttons, k?"

I nodded.

We both walked through the front door to find the whole family, all 14 people, and Ryan's girlfriend, Brooke.

I searched Ryan's eyes, but he wouldn't look into mine.

We both walked over and I took a seat next to my older sister Mackenzie.

"I gathered you all here to tell you some news" Ryan started.

I looked up confused at the news is heard.

"He got the family together?"

"Why?" I thought to myself.

"I guess there's no other way to say this, so I'm just gonna start with, I joined the army, and I'm gonna be gone for 15 months."

The words hit me harder than any rock ever could.

As he said them he looked straight at me, guilt filled his eyes as he looked away.

My eyes filled with water, the tears daring to spill. I stood up with force and started to run, out the door, through the neighborhood, down the street.

I didn't know where I was going, or what I was thinking, but I tapped when I reached the boardwalk and pulled out my phone.

Before I knew it, I was calling the one person I needed right now; Hayes.
