"Congratulations Payton." An old family friend said.
"Thank you!" I reply the same way I had to everyone else.
I made my way around the ballroom, nodding to the people congratulating me on my new album, finally reaching my oldest brother Ryan.
"What time did dad say this was over." I said reaching his side and leaning over, trying to be as quite as possible.
"11, but wanna leave now?" Was his reply. Contemplating my options, I shrugged.
"Why not, but I'm prepared to be grounded." Was my response. We turned and walked towards the door as my heels clicked on the ground. I almost had to shuffle in the tight, gold and white dress picked out by my designer.
"Where do you two think your going." A cool voice said as my hand reached for the cold, brass handle of the giant doors of the ballroom. My brothers eyes looked into mine as he were to say "damn it" I covered a laugh as we turned to be greeted by my sister Grace, the responsible one of the family.
"To have some fun." Ryan responded, clearly not interested in her so called parenting, when she was younger than him.
"Does that involve getting our 13 year old sister drunk?" She asked with her eyes cold.
"Yeah and I thought we could do some pot" he replied in a sarcastic tone.
"Look around grace! Were surrounded by people that I haven't seen in years, and are older than Our great grampa!And I'm almost 14" I said, taking charge, not giving up just yet.
"If I wanted to celebrate the release of my album, I'd have my friends, not people who can barely walk, and I doubt they would even listen to it!" I continued on, proving my point. With a stomp she turned.
"I'm telling dad, and by the way, I planned this event well and I'm not letting you two ruin it!" She hissed.
Ryan and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. My hand turned the handle and I stepped out into the fading sunlight of California.
"Let's have some fun." I said with a smirk as we reached his convertible and jumped in.
