Aella's P.O.V.
I brought Sam up to my room and told him to sit on the bed, eyes closed, and I went over to the cage in the middle of the floor-to-ceiling book case. "Are they still closed?""Yep."
"Are you sure?"
"Mhmm."
"Perfectly completely undoubtedly sure?"
Sam chuckled, his hands still placed firmly over his eyes. "Yes, Aella, perfectly completely sure."
He missed undoubtedly. I don't know if I trust him.
I pulled Redgar into my hands. She seemed to smile when my hand met her torso, her head snuggling into my chest. I turned towards Sam and walked in front of him, a huge grin painted on my face as I commanded, "Open."
His eyes opened and they immediately lit up. Sam's hand reached toward my fat cat, lightly petting his head. Redgar's eyes were suspicious but luckily, he didn't bite Sam's club of a hand. I held out my arm towards Sam and Redgar immediately scampered down, his claws being careful not to dig too deep into my skin. When the Siamese stood at the edges of my finger tips, he gave Sam a good once-over and I suddenly got an idea.
As Sam was too busy admiring Redgar (I can't blame him) I reached into Redgar's mind and whispered, Sneak Attack. The lizard launched himself at Sam, clinging to his plaid shirt with his tiny claws. Sam freaked out, his body flying backwards . I have to ask: have you ever seen a moose and a ball of passive-aggresive fluff fly like inept ballet dancers, the hair of one splaying out like beautiful antlers in the sunshine.
I doubled over laughing, not only because of Sam's face but because of the small 'WHEE' that emitted from Redgar. After Sam had sat up and made sure Redgar was okay (which we was, Lucifer himself couldn't harm that cat if he tried) he started laughing with me. I was breathless when we stopped, my chest getting tight and my face flushed. Sam was looking at me with something in his eye that I couldn't place but my attention quickly turned to the small soccer ball on the bedside table. I picked it up and went to the small desk which was littered with art projects and unfinished writing prompts because I'm lazy and not creative.
I cleared off the papers and beckoned Sam over, setting the tiny soccer ball in the middle of the table. "Put Redgar in the middle and you get on the other side. We're gonna play ticcer." When Sam's face scrunched up in confusion I clarified, "Tiny soccer."
We got into position and Redgar kicked the ball in the air, my forefinger meeting the ball first and soaring past Sam's shoulder. Sam slumped in defeat while I jumped up and did my happy dance which was pretty much just a homosexual bear trying their best. Yes, I did just compare myself to something normal and naturally occurring and yes, I am trying my goddamned best don't judge me. Sam smiled at me and set the soccer ball back in the middle.
"Okay, I gotta admit, that was good but it didn't count. This is my first time playing so let's have a redo. Best 11 out of 20?"
"You're on, Chewbacca."
And that's what we did for the next 30 minutes, Sam trying hard not to curse while I try and comfort his deflated ego. I gave him the win a few times but victory was too sweet and plus, no one wants to win to a 4 year old or else that would seem unfair but I gotta admit, winning to anyone my physical age just butters my eggroll. When Dean and Nonna's footsteps came steadily up the stairs, I whirled around and opened the door, letting the soccer ball sail by my hip.
When Nonna came into view, I rushed towards her and latched onto her leg. She chuckled and lifted me up, setting me on her hip. Sam smiled at us while Dean looked on with longing. A female he loved died when he was about my age. Probably a mother, based on the way Dean flocks over Sam like a hen. Sam doesn't remember her. An ache appeared in my heart for him and Sam; they didn't deserve to lose their mom so young.
