chapter 2

- a few weeks later -

you & joey are closer than ever. other than him, you have made a couple of other friends too! ashely, gabby, maxine, and tana.

your grades were amazing too! you felt on top of everything.

but there was one problem. you have started to catch feelings for joey. at this point in time, he's so special to you, and you don't wanna ruin what you have, so you keep it to yourself.

- next week -

everything is still surprisingly going well. you've noticed on of the popular girls, lauren, has suddenly been talking to joey. you've been getting jealous, but you feel like joey's way out of your league.

- 1 month later -

lauren and joey have been spending a lot of time together, and you've noticed. one day, lauren came over to yours and joey's lunch table and sat with you guys.

she gave you dirty looks, but joey didn't seem to notice. she touched his hand, and felt his hair. you looked down as a tear fell down your cheek.

"excuse me" you said as you ran to the bathroom. your friends ran after you, but joey couldn't do anything.

you came into class late, but you had a pass from a teacher who helped cheer you up. you sat down in your assigned seat, next to joey. he looked at you and saw how red and swollen your eyes were. he was so worried.

"hana! what happened? what's wrong?" he asked worryingly. "n-nothing..." you said in a hushed tone. you didn't expect joey to understand.

"i thought we told each other everything." he said, a little bit upset. "we do, i just can't tell you this." you replied. "well you know what? fine". he stood up and stormed out of the classroom.

- later that day -

that night, you decided to invite joey over to family game night. you couldn't call it off now or else your guys's parents would butt in.

you gave a soft wave to joey and he nodded at you. you guys sat next to each other. "hana, why don't you take joey up to your room while the adults talk?" asked your dad.

"okay..." you replied.

once you got up to your room there was nothing but silence. you were both on your phones.

"tell me what's wrong. please." joey pleaded.

"fine. you wanna know what's wrong?!" you raised your voice. "i've fallen for you. i like you so much. I LOVE YOU." you stormed out of the house and joey sat there in disbelief.

- next day -

you sighed as you woke up. you took your shower, and put some makeup on. you decided just to wear you wavy, long hair loose with some sweatpants & a tshirt.

you rode you bike to school and took a sip out of your water bottle. you put in your earbuds and played your sad playlist on spotify.

you walked into home room early because there were only a few other kids in there. you put your head down.

15 minutes later you got up to say the pledge of allegiance. you sat back down and joey rapped you and the shoulder.

J - hey, hana, can we talk?

H - *rolls eyes*

J - come on, please?

*the bell rings and you rush to your class*

{in this class you sit in the same row as joey but not next to each other}

your eyes were still bloodshot red from crying all night. joey looked at you all class. as soon as the bell rung, you ran out.

- lunch time -

you sat where you always sat. across from joey. lauren sat down next to him. "hey jo jo" she said. "hey lauren." he replied coldly. she rolled her eyes and picked at her food.

you looked around emotionlessly. you didn't even touch your food. you switched the song a couple times. joey kept glancing at you with a sad face.

in the middle of lunch you got up and left. your friends had left because they were all cheerleaders and had to go to a competition in another state.

joey ran after you. lauren ran after him. he grabbed your arm and you turned back. "where you going jo jo?" she asked him. you pulled your arm out of his grip and ran into the bathroom.

you pulled out your sleeping pills. recently your parents have been fighting. when they asked you to leave the room the previous night they told joey's parents that they were getting a divorce.

you were only living for joey. and now

he was gone.

you took 13 pills and passed out, hitting your head on the edge of the toilet.
