Alexis' Pov:

"So tell me more about our new room mate," Eleanor suggests as she sends the ball rolling gracefully into the hole. We're on hole sixteen and she completed it in only three shots...show off...

"Well her name's Leah..." I begin, taking my first shot on hole seventeen. It bounced off the palm tree into the sand pit. Lovely.

"She's my best friend, she's kind of a diva," I laugh.

"Fantastic," Eleanor praises me when my ball rolls in the hole in three turns.

"But she gives the best advice, and she has a great sarcastic-type humor, you'll love her," I smile.

Eleanor positions her club and-once again-makes an amazing shot. She turns to me and smiles when she notices my envious expression. "So what is your favorite thing about this girl?"

I sigh, thinking of Leah and try to decipher what i like most about her. "Probably..." my voice trails off while Eleanor misses the hole by a nose. "Probably how she's so upfront and honest with you. She doesn't sugar coat anything. It's refreshing," I find myself smiling, thinking of all the times she's told me her honest opinion.

I think back to the day Leah and I met. It was the first day of fifth grade. The school we attended started from grade five, so nobody knew anyone. The teachers had us all do crafts to 'bond' with each other. I was stringing green, blue and red wooden beads onto some fishing line. I was a little unsure of whether or not i liked it, so i turned to the girl sitting next to me. She had her dark brown hair pulled up into a tight ponytail. By the way she dressed, she looked like she'd rather play sports than go shopping.

I tapped on her shoulder and she turned around, looking at me curiously. "Hi, erm what do you think of this bracelet? I want to give it to someone, but i'm not sure if it's nice enough." That someone was Niall, but he didn't even know me then. I was just looking for an excuse to talk to the cute, blonde boy across the table.

I was expecting a confidence boost like, 'i like it' or 'that's nice', but Leah just examined it with her icy blue eyes and turned to me, "it's okay, but it'd look better if you used silver beads instead of the red ones," she pointed to a container full of shiny, silver beads. Something about her bluntness made me smile

She smiled back at me and i noticed she was missing one of her front teeth. "Hey i'm missing a front tooth too!" I squealed, revealing my gap-toothed smile.

"Really? That's so cool! I love putting the drinking straws from juice boxes in the space." She giggles.

"I do that too!" I grin. And from then on we were best friends. The bracelet did look better with silver beads instead of red, but i never ended up giving it to Niall. It's in my room back in Ireland somewhere. Eventually Niall, Leah and I discovered we were the loud, out-going ones in the grade and we became instant friends. Niall was the funny one, Leah was the brash one, i was the apathetic one. Together, we kept each other grounded. We kept each other sane.

"Alexis? Earth to Alexis! Is anybody home?"

I snap out of the memory and find Eleanor standing a distance away from me, an amused expression playing on her face.

"What?" I ask, feeling heat run to my cheeks.

"We're tied, it's all up to this last hole."

"Oh," I mumble, running after her.
