The Way We Once Were

Chapter 6- What Seemed Normal...

Yasmine's POV
Its been a day since all that has happened and it's a hot sunny morning here in San Diego and did I really wanna go out? Nah, I thought to myself. Today was just that kinda day where you'd just wanna stay at home and watch Netflix all day. I get out of my sisters extra bedroom and head to the bathroom to freshen up and brush my teeth. When I'm done I open the door to see Slim standing by the door, "Ugh, it's you," I say to him sarcastically. "Ughhhh, its Adams crush" he said out loudly trying to make it seem sarcastic. "Shut up," I say to him as I pass by him letting him in the bathroom. "It's the truth," he shouts at me when I'm walking down the stairs. I roll my eyes and continue walking towards the kitchen. When I enter the kitchen I see my sister and Layla trying to make what seemed like breakfast but was not going as planned. "I was never the cook, Yasmine would do all the work when we were younger" she said to Adam. "Talking about Yasmine-- Adam says while finally noticing me. Both Adam and Layla had their chef aprons on and didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. "Thank god you're here," Layla said in relief, "I don't know what I'm doing sooo imma just go...,"she says while  putting her chef apron on me and hopping out the kitchen, leaving me and Adam alone. "Sooo um Layla tried to cook something and it uh failed," Adam said. "I tried to help but um that wouldn't have helped her either," he says. We both laugh and I tell Adam that I was just gonna cook breakfast. "I wanna help," he says quickly "Shouldn't you be resting" I say back to him in concern. "Like I said Habibi (my baby/darling in Arabic) I'm helping you cook," he said making it clear. I didn't think he would stop until I let him so, I said yes to helping me cook breakfast. Did I mention how cute it sounded when he spoke in Arabic, cause damn it was hella fine.

"Aye I did something!" Adam said, it felt good to see him smile after everything he'd just gone through, "Yeah" I say with a smile. "Well...We" he says correcting himself,"Yeah.... we" I say. We both stare into each other's eyes until we hear "Awwwwwww" from the kitchen entrance. It was Slim, Sasha, and Layla all standing there just watching me and Adam,"I was uh not expecting that"Adam says as we all laughed. "Oh my god you guys....."  Layla says as she's touching one of her hands on her heart, "You guys should marry each other," she says. Me and Adam were the only ones to laugh but our laughs seemed faker then uh....fake."If those laugh weren't as fake as Adam and Yasmine denying their feelings for each other's I. DON'T. KNOW. WHAT. IS," Slim says. Slim, Sasha, and Layla all laughed, but me and Adam both just look away from each other. "Sorry for the awkwardness y'all, but who wants food?" Slim says as he finishes his thought. "Um everybody," Sasha says.

When we all grabbed our plates with eggs, toast and cut up fruits that me and Adam had prepared for everyone, we all just sat and talked and chilled in the dining room. "Ding" my phone went, from kitchen. "Imma go get that," I say while stopping whatever I was talking to Sasha about. When I went in the kitchen I see that I got a message and the message was from an anonymous person. I open the message and it wrote, "Meet me at Wright's playground at 8:00 PM, you know why I choose this place ;) - H". "What...the?", I whispered to myself. "What is it?" I hear Slim call from behind me, "No--it's uh nothing," I say while I quickly turn around. "What is it?" he says firmly."Fine," I say "But you can't tell anyone--especially Adam at least not...yet," I say. I show him the message and all of a sudden his eyes widened. "Oh my god," he says to himself, "What?" Adam says while entering the kitchen. "Oh uh, it's just this um nice place that would be perfect for this uh one suprise for you," he says, "Umm?...Ok?" he said in confusion. Slim headed on back to the dining room but from the look on his face, I knew he couldn't put his head through what I'd just shown him. "Everything okay?" Adam asked with an adorable smile, "Yeah-uh better than ever," I say with the fakest smile....
