We ran down the dark hallways of the prison block hoping no one will hear the faintest of footsteps, not even suspect an awake presence.
Soraru formulated a plan the day before and needed a day to prepare everything for the escape. He disabled all audio and video surveillance throughout the whole facility, stole cash from the organization's vaults, and took several weapons from the arsenals.
I, at first, asked why he had a whole duffel of yen. I mean, the friggin guns, I understand, but yen? I thought we were getting me out of here.
He rubbed me off, threw a duffel at me, and said he'll explain while executing the plan.
So now here we are, having the most stealthiest night ever.
He lead me down a few flights of stairs that lead to an array of vehicles on standby. There, we ran into Lon.
"Soraru? What are you doing?" She asked once she saw us enter. "No, actually what is she doing?"
"Oh me? Getting my ass out of here and minding my own business." I retorted.
Soraru raised his hand to stop out bickering. "Lon, I don't want to say this but please leave."
"Why?" Lon stood firmly.
"Please. I am sure you do not want to know why," he inched closer to her, with a cloth in his hand that she doesn't see, "but I need to get her out of here."
"Her? Isn't she our ransom girl? You can't do that, she's to be executed soon!"
"Hey I'm more than just a ransom girl, I have a fuckin' life, you know?" I snapped.
"How dare you talk to me like that," she pulled out a pistol at me as I do the same.
Shit, we can't afford making so much noise if we start a gun fight.
Lon and I glared at each other with Soraru in the middle. I saw his worried eyes of risking time and cover.
"Lon, [First Name], quit it. We're wasting time."
"Nope. There's no way she's leaving."
Lon shoots.
I quickly dodged her shot but her bullet manages to graze my shoulder. I yell in pain, clutching, my shoulder, bleeding. That bitch hurt. Before I get to shoot back at her, Soraru put the cloth over her nose, making her pass out. Chloroform.
"Are you okay?"
"Fuck yeah," I flinch carrying a heavy duffel with a fresh wound, "What now?"
He rushes to a compact car and opens it. "Put the bag in here and get inside."
I as he says, but before I can even get inside we both hear gunshots and immediately duck.
They found us.
They blew off two windows of the vehicle as we scrambled inside. He took the driver's seat as I threw myself on the back seats. He sped off straight into a tunnel with the shooters still firing away. I decided to grab a big one and start shooting back.
At once I took down three men in seven shots. Several more were rushing in.
"[First Name], what the fuck are you doing?" Soraru cynically asked.
"Eliminating our enemies," I smile as I take down a couple more pests.
"But you're hurt, get down, I'll get us out."
"It's just a scratch. Besides, I shouldn't just sit around and wait as a prince tries to save me. I have to help."
I heard a forced chuckle from him. "Miss Bergman."
Soraru's P.O.V.
The other party is now on wheels and shooting at an alarming rate. I hear the sound of engines catching up to us. I worry so much for [First Name], what if she takes a full bullet? She'll be gone for good. And she's already been through hell.
"Mister Lincoln... can you go a bit faster? They're at our tails!"
"Yes, ma'am," I say, slamming on the pedal.
I see the opening at the end of the tunnel getting closer, larger, steady, steady... a few meters away...
Once we were out the tunnel, I see a ovular object fly and fall a few feet ahead of us.
"They stopped chasing us, Soraru!"
A grenade.
"Shit! [First Name], brace yourself!"
I zoomed over the frag and it ignited.
The explosion forced our vehicle to fly. We were in the air for a good few seconds before we hit the ground and flip over several times down an inclined hill away from the road.
Your P.O.V.
I wake up in a bloddy mess. Broken glass spread all over my body, metal melted in a firey mess beside me. My eyes adjusted to the sight. I'm hazy, dark... I'm nowhere.
I look around slowly.
My eyes pass an open duffel spilling weapons and a closed one in tact.
I turn my head to see a raven haired man flat faced down on the ground, lifeless. Blood dirtied his tattered clothing and bare skin.
Soraru!
I hastily scramble to him.
"Soraru! Soraru," I grab his shoulders and flip him over "Soraru?"
Please tell me he's not dead...
"Soraru, come on. Wake up. Please don't be dead."
I hover over him and lightly tap the side of his face.
"Ugh." He faintly grunted and slightly opened his eyes.
"Soraru! Thank God!" I hug him while still on the ground, overwhelmed with relief. Tears stung my eyes.
I felt a hand caress my head gently. "I know. I'm alive."
I kiss him on his forehead and both his cheeks. "I love you. I don't know why I'm so attached to you like this. And-- I thought you were just getting me out..."
"I decided I wanted to go with you, I'm attached, too." He brings my face to his and kisses me on my lips.
We sit up.
"So... everything's a wreck," I point out. "But earlier, you packed a a bunch of yen in that bag. Why?"
"We'll need it to start a new life together." He sighed. "A new identity, occupation, affiliation. Everything. We're starting over after this shit passes."
I hold his hand.
"Okay, where do we start?"
