**Time skip six months**
"Reina, are you almost finished? If we don't go now, we are going to be late to the dinner." M'Baku says through the door.
I've been staring in the mirror for most of ten minutes. I already have my outfit on, it was just my hair and make up that I needed to do. But I guess I can do those things in the hover car.
I take my makeup bag with me and open the door. M'Baku looks at me as he wolf whistles."Now I see why you took so long." He says.
I roll my eyes at him and say:
"I'll do my make up in the car."
"Alright then, let's go." He says, extending his arm to me.
I link my arm with his and rest the side of my head on his large bicep. We both walk to the car and I first put on my silver eyeshadow followed by my mascara and eyeliner. I did the perfect wing on both eyes and I notice M'Baku staring at me when he should be paying attention to the road.
"Is there something wrong, M'Baku?" I ask, still looking myself in the mirror to see if I missed anything.
"How could you willingly have those things so close to your eye?" He asks.
"Because it makes me pretty." I say.
"You don't need anyone to make you pretty, you're already gorgeous as it is.. without make up." M'Baku says with seriousness.
"Awww. M'Baku, you making me blush." I say.
I gasp before saying:
"Speaking of which, I should put on some blush."
"Why did I even say anything?" He says with a sigh.
"I'm not scared of it... It took me a while to perfect the wing." I say.
"'The wing'? What wing? I don't see a bird feather on you." He says.
I physically face palm and sigh with disappointment.
"Sometimes I wonder with you, M'Baku." I say.
"What? I'm legitimately concerned. Why is it called 'the wing'?" He asks.
"Because it looks like a wing coming out of the eye." I explain.
"So the wing is in your eye." He says.
"May the panthers help you," I say.
Then I move onto styling my hair. Once we arrive at the Royal Palace, we park in the grass. M'Baku walks around the car whilst buttoning the top button of his black suit. I sigh as I step out and close the door.
"You okay, Reina? You've been different over the passed few weeks." He states.
I look up at him and say:
"There's something I have to tell you.. and you're going to be ashamed of me, but I can't take keeping this whole thing a secret anymore."
"I would never be ashamed of you. You're my best friend.." he says, holding onto my shoulders.
"I.." I trail off.
"Hey," He says as he places a hand on the side of my face.
"Tell me," He adds.
"I was dating King Killmonger for almost a year, but we broke up six months ago and it still hurts me till this day." I admit.
He nods his head slowly as he tries to process. He tightens his grasp on my shoulders but soon releases it.
"Did he... hurt you?" He asks.
I shake my head no before saying:
"If anything... I hurt him. Because I didn't want you and everyone else to know about us as a view me as 'n goudgrawer or anything. But I think I ruined the only chance of genuine love I ever had."
I bow my head in shame and he pulls me into his chest.
"If anyone dare to call you that word, I would kill them and feed them to the bears." He threatens as he rests his hands on the back of my neck and my lower back.
"May I ask what happened?" He asks.
I look up into his concerned, dark brown orbs and say:
"I'll talk to you about it later. We're going to be late."
He presses his forehead against mine and says:
"You are more important than this dinner."
"He caught feelings for me and he wanted us to go public. And then he wanted us to travel in and out of Wakanda.. but I just wasn't ready for all that.. Things couldn't go back to the way they were because that's I would ever think about. The time he wanted to wait until he married me." I say.
"He wanted to marry you?" He asks.
I nod and Okoye says:
"Is there something wrong?"
"N-no, we were just heading in." I say.
I look to M'Baku and he links his hand with mine. We walk into the conference room where every tribe leader conversed with other tribes leaders and their second-in-commands.
I was given small smiles as I scan the room and I return the gesture. My heart races when I see Erik stands isolated from the crowd as he scrolls through his phone. Almost as if he knew I was looking at him, he looked up and locks eyes with me. He kept a neutral facial expression as he tucks his phone away and made his way into the crowd.
Little did I know that M'Baku pulled away from me to converse with other tribe leaders, leaving me to confront Erik alone after not seeing him for six months. Erik moves through the crowd and walks towards me. The distance between us grew smaller and smaller and suddenly M'Baku jumps in front of me. He sticks out his hand and says:
"I'm Lord M'Baku. Have we met?"
"No, we haven't. But I have heard a lot of things about you." Erik says as he shakes M'Baku's hand.
"All good things I hope," M'Baku says.
"Have you met my second-in-command? Reina Merrington?" He adds as he rests his hand on my lower back.
"No, I haven't." Erik lies.
I look at M'Baku in such a manner that says: what are you doing? He ignores my facial expression and nudges me towards Erik. I stare deeply into his eyes and he presses a kiss on the corner of my lips before pulling me into for a hug.
I rest the side of my face against his neck and let him hold me for a minute max until I pull away.
"Nice to meet you, King Killmonger." I say, trying to keep a low profile.
I return to M'Baku's side and we all make our way to the dining room.
