"Complicated"

"AU: In which high school is too complicated for two sexually confused teenagers."

----------

Feelings are a complicated thing. There are just so many of them that, at times, you just can't tell which one you are anymore. Sad, happy, jealous, betrayed, loved. It gets to the point where you can no longer decipher which is which. So instead, you paint yourself as one emotion just to make it easier.

"Yerim-ah."

The soft whistle of the wind carried the quiet voice to awaiting ears. The single name sent shivers down the female's spine. A gentle smile painted on her lips as she returned the greeting in a voice just as hushed as the first.

"M/n-ssi."

The short exchange between the two almost lovers, as they stared straight into each other's eyes. The distance between them didn't affect their hearing, their voices coming out clear. The emotions stored in their eyes both danced in their radiant orbs, each one more obvious than the other.

The female's emotions were much different that the other's, though they were both same to a certain extent. Adoring, she looked at the male with such adoration. The way she admired his every move, the way she held the bubbly smile every time he did something. Kindness, her eyes were as soft as her tone. She looked at him with the kind eyes, in attempts to warm his cold demeanor. Love, she loved him. She loved the male with such ferocity, she couldn't hold back.

No matter how hard she tried, the male's emotions were unreadable. To her, at least. She couldn't decipher what he was feeling, but instead, she could only trust the smile displayed on his face to tell her he was happy. Happy with the life he lived, his friends, her.

Sorrow, because she knew that it was all a lie. She wasn't the one to make him happy. She wasn't the one that would brighten up his day. But it was all held behind the fake smile he plastered on face everyday. She knew the feelings she held for him weren't returned, but she held on anyway. Guilt, she knew who he loved, yet instead of trying to talk about it she kept quiet. Ashamed, she knew she was better than this. She knew that she couldn't keep hoping for the same thing. She knew but she couldn't help but to. Overwhelmed, because it was all too much.

Feelings are a complicated thing, indeed.

"Stop it, Yerim-ah."

The cheeky smile stayed on Yerim's face, she leaned back against the chair and her legs remained folded as she faked offence. "Why, I don't know what you're talking about."

Her long black hair made it past her shoulders, nearly to the middle of her back. She kept persistent look on her face, her silky strands swaying back and forth with her every movement. Once again, Yerim leaned across the table, taking a single finger and flicking the open book to the next few pages.
