Corrine.
She stands across the restaurant from me smiling. It's not a nice smile. Her lips are curled up into an evil smirk that is directed towards me. Her empty eyes lock on mine and I feel myself shrink back a little bit. I turn my head back around to avoid looking at her.
"You know, before you moved here, we were all friends with her. Us essentials stuck together. We even put up with Parker until he got interested in you. Essentials understood each other, and we all hung out together." I look at Jay and I frown.
"So basically by moving here I wrecked everything." I ignore the fact that I'm still supposed to be mad at him. If my moving here ruined a bunch of friendships then maybe I do wreck everything like people used to say. My chest clenches up and I look down at my napkin.
Jay sighs really loudly. Then all of a sudden he is sitting beside where Emma was sitting before. He must have moved from the other side, where he was sitting with Aunt Kerstin.
"That's not what I meant by that. I'm just meaning to say that towards some of the other essentials, we are going to act friendly. Even with Corrine. The group of us used to be pretty close with Corrine and her friends. Please don't expect us to ignore them. I know you have issues with her, but I'd appreciate it if we could still be friends with her."
I look at Jay and I sigh. "Fine. You can be friends with who you want. But, in return, you have to accept that I want to be with Parker. You have to let me date and hang out with whoever I want." Jay looks conflicted while he considers this, but he eventually sighs.
"Alright. From this point out, no controlling each other. I promise." I smile at him and hug him tightly.
"It's great to have you back JJ," I giggle making him sigh loudly again. It's probably because I uses his nickname from when we were 8.
"Never call me that again, Olly," he retorts using my old nickname. We both laugh and suddenly things between us are fine. We are still chuckling when Aunt Kerstin and Emma arrive back.
"See, Emaline, I told you they would make up by the time we got back," Aunt Kerstin states. Emma nods while Jay and I stare at her in shock. She rolls her eyes and stares at us. "Don't act so surprised. It was obvious that you two were upset with each other, and that's not okay. Emma, you can take Jay's spot. Jay, hand Emma her colouring book."
We laugh and joke around while waiting for our food. Aunt Kerstin checks her phone multiple times, always looking worried and slightly upset. Jay notices this too, but we silently agreed not to bring it up. Soon our food arrives and we dig in.
Once I am done eating, I get up and leave for the bathroom. As I walk towards the restroom, I catch the eye of Corrine who is for some reason shooting daggers at me. I ignore her and continue on my way.
When I am washing my hands afterwards, the door opens and someone else comes in. I am shocked to see it is Corrine. She walks up to the sink beside me and starts washing her hands.
"What do you want, Corrine? You're obviously in here for a reason," I say after looking back at my own sink.
"I wanted to warn you. Stay away from Keiran or else there will be consequences." I catch her eyes in the mirror and she looks pissed. I snort a laugh and shake my head.
"For your imformation, Keiran and I are just friends. If I were you, I would be more worried about the hundreds of other girls who throw themselves at him. Don't worry about me."
She scans my body up and down then wrinkles her nose in disgust. "I'm not worried about you. Have you seen yourself? You are no competition for someone like me. You turn people off just by breathing."
