With everyone shrieking, yelling, or very obnoxiously making out, it became very hard to think, so I tried to find somewhere that was sans-criminal. I failed. When I got to the roof, I noticed a mop of brown hair on a ledge a few feet from the ground. He heard my footsteps on the metal, and turned around and looked up. It was the dumbass from before, the one who had started the fiasco that ended in two corpses and a bucket load of regret. Or not, looking at his face.

With a large grin spread across his unfortunately attractive face, he said, "Amazing isn't it?"

"A shame the two guys who followed your lead don't get to enjoy it too." My response was cold. There are a few things I can't stand. Stupid choices that result in death are one of them.

He frowned. "You know, you and Princess would get along great. All serious, no sense of humor."

"Oh I have a sense of humor all right, it's just evolved beyond your level of stupid." I thought that was clever. He did not.

"You're not going to have any problems making friends at all, are ya sweetheart?" I'm going to kick his ass. No one gives me a nickname, especially in that derogatory tone.

"Don't call me," before I could finish telling him off, he saw something happening on the ground.

....Something is happening with Clarke. Damn Jaha kids gotten himself into a fight!...

Clarke, she was the pretty blonde from earlier. The guy I was just exchanging quips with, Fink, I think his name was, jumped, from the ledge he was standing on, to the mossy ground. A chorus of oooohs arose from the delinquents gathered around a mousy looking guy, Fink, and Wells.
"Kids got one leg. How about you wait until it's a fair fight?" I had to admit, Fink had a point. No use fighting a cripple. Not as satisfying as a fair win.

The pretty brunette from before the ship opened, Octavia, called out to Fink, "Hey spacewalker, rescue me next." Her brother, the tall man with a nice voice, pulled her to the side. With the looks on both of their faces, it seemed like he was scolding her. I sat down on the roof, legs dangling off the side. Not much use to stand, when I could sit. In moments like these, the only things that took up residence in my mind were memories. Of my father, the unit where I spent 10 years of my life, and the cell I spent the other 11. My name being called by someone who I was beginning to familiarize with the phrase, "annoying as all hell", broke me out of my trance.
"Hey, Dani, want to come on an expedition?" Fink asked, craning his neck to look at me. The others began to notice who he was calling out to.
"With you?" Dislike laced my tone.
"And these 4." He pointed to Clarke, Octavia, and two other boys whose names I didn't know.
"Of course, why not? It's not like I would rather do literally anything else." The man who made my entire being shake with hatred started to make his way over, inserting his abnormally large nose in yet another place it didn't belong.
"Dani? You aren't going, right? It's dangerous, you're staying here." And nose inserted. I wanted to snip it off with shears.
"On second thought, I'm definitely coming." With that, I climbed back into the ship and made my way to the first floor. As I walked down the ramp, I said, "You should know better than to order me around, Jack. And for the second, and final time. It's Danielle."
He looked at me in distraught, trying to explain himself, "I'm trying to keep you safe! Dani, please," The last words set me off.
"It's Danielle! And you're not trying to keep me safe, you're trying to control me, like you did back on the Ark. But no more. I'm done, Jack. Done with you, and done with him. So keep your opinions to yourself." With that, I stormed off to the small group of explorers who looked at me with a fraction of fear in their eyes. "Well? Are we going, or not?" Clarke hesitantly pointed to the forest, and I headed off that way. When I noticed they weren't following, I turned back, and raised an eyebrow. The first person to follow was Octavia, with a hint of a smirk on her face. The others followed behind, slowly, but gaining speed as they walked.

Octavia came up beside me and whispered to me, "I think we're going to be friends."
I let myself fall behind the group, thinking to myself,
...I've never had a friend before...

The walk was long, and tedious

The walk was long, and tedious. Fink stopped every so often, looking at plants, marveling at the wonders of earth, or whatever. He picked a purple flower and tucked it behind Octavia's ear. She was enamored with him, and he was only making it worse with his blatant flirting.
The two boys, whose names I had learned were Monty and Jasper were laughing and jeering, as I assume most best friends do.
"Now that, my friend, is game," I heard Jasper say.
Monty responded with, "That, my friend, is poison sumac."
I was alarmed, so I decided to poke around and see if it was actually poison.
...it's not actual poison, it's medicinal. Calming, in fact...

And then Monty said what he had thought, which surprised me. I was so used to the exact opposite, so I had grown reliant on using my ability.
I guess my shock showed, as Fink asked me, "What, sweetheart, didn't you have earth skills as a class?"
"I guess not, Fink, because if I did, I would know how to poison you."
He had the grace to look embarrassed, he probably didn't think I would respond to him.
"My names Finn." Oops. Guess I got the name wrong.
"Same thing." He had a weird look on his face, like he was trying hard not to say something.
Sensing the mood change, Jasper quickly said, "His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on The Ark. Monty's family." It really did nothing to improve the sudden intense atmosphere.
Ahead of us, Clarke was alternating between studiously looking at the map, and studying her surroundings. She said, "Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?"
"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn said, a frown sort of pulling at his face.
She turned to him, face serious, "Well, it's simple. I wonder, 'why haven't we seen any animals?' Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. Sure is pretty, though. Come on."
"That could be it, or it could be the fact that a fucking drop ship just crashed into the ground," I said, sarcasm seemingly oozing out of the air around me. She turned and fixed me with a glare that probably would scare me, if I wasn't, well, me.
"Someone should slip her some poison sumac," Octavia said. Snickers erupted from the group, and I surprisingly joined in. The look on their faces was hilarious when they heard my small chuckle.
"So she can laugh! This is useful information, Monty, are you getting this down?" Jasper quickly shut up after a glare from me.
