My heart stopped beating and my soul seemed to have left my body all at once, for the first five seconds of seeing him. We locked eyes, and it remained like that until I sat down, then he shifted his gaze to the other students.
"As this is my first day here, I should like you all to introduce yourselves. We will go in an horizontal order." The first person to stand was a girl, she sat next to the wall in the first row. She removed her pencil from her ear and said, "My name is Melody, I am eighteen, and I ounce lived in Florida." She sat down and the next student followed and so on. Soon, I was next. The boy next to me sat down and it was my turn. I looked deep into Hades' eyes, again. "My name is Lucy, I live in Arizona but I am here because of some complication. I am seventeen, and very much single." A cocky smirk immediately crept my face as I said the last words, but Hades did not seem amused. I sat down and the girl beside me stood up, but he cut her off and said it was fine.
"OK, class, seeing today is a nice and sunny day and I don't really have any classwork for you. Let us talk about something else. What do you recommend we talk about, Lucy?" I shrugged and replied, "I don't know," a hand went in the air and the voice of the girl who spoke was so coated with sugar, my stomach was turning. It was obvious she was flirting with him. "We can talk about you, Mr.Evannns," she said the last part, dragging on his fake surname. "That's a good suggestion but I would not talk about myself. Who here knows a thing or two about Greek mythology?" Everybody's hand went up except for mine. "Who can tell me a bit about them?" This time my hand went up, he picked me and I looked him in the eye. "I know that they can't control themselves, they're arrogant, ignorant, self-absorbed and just plain horn..." "Ok, Lucy, I think we've heard enough. Does anyone want to add?" The overly sweet girl responded. "I only know three main ones though: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, but I personally would date Poseidon." Hades laughed and said, "What about Hades, what do you think of him?" "Oh, I don't know, he's a kinda shady dude," It was my turn to laugh. "Besides, he already has a wife, Persephone right?" Hades seemed to become stiff and said, "Yes, Persephone was Hades' wife, but for a short period of time, she died, you see, you can't always trust everything you read or hear." "Who killed her?" She asked again. "I don't know, I don't live in the Underworld," I rolled my eyes. "But, I have to ask you, do you think it is right for a wife to run away from her husband on their honeymoon?" The whole class shook their head and mumbled a few words. He took this as the time to give me the 'Majority carries the vote' look. "Yes, but what if she was forced into the marriage, and her husband is very 'needy'?" I say. The whole class turned to look at me. I got up, spat on the floor and said to Hades, "you're a fraud." I left the classroom and went to the field to clear my head.
A wind blew by and I already knew who it was. "What do you want!" I got up on my feet and started hitting his chest, he held my wrists and was reaching for my lips but he suddenly stopped, our faces inches from each other. "Please come home?" I could feel the word on my lips. Just say yes, stupid! But the wrong words came out of my mouth. "I just can't. You, this; what we have, I just can't."
The school bell rang and that signaled that school was over, the person who walked in next came at perfect timing. "I didn't know there was a new teacher," "Xavier, you're early," Hades turned to look at him. He was shocked for a split second that you would have missed it if you blinked. "So, this is Xavier. Allow me to introduce myself, Hades, Lucy's husband." It was Xavier this time who was shocked as he looked at both of us, he soon cleared his head as though realizing something. "I know who you are Hades and I am sure you know what I am," Hades chuckled. "Of course I know what you are, the minute I laid eyes on Mrs.Green, I knew that this school had been taken over by your kind, which is why I did myself the favor of killing her." I saw something bulging in of Xavier's mouth, it had the shape of a tooth but longer. "Oh, careful now, we wouldn't want Lucy to see your other side." Xavier stepped back. "Oh, my, you didn't tell her, oh well, let me do it for you." Hades came and took my hands and held them tight., "Lucy, this creature here is what humans call a vampire." I laughed, hoping for Xavier to join me, but he did not. I stopped laughing and backed away from both of them. They were both monsters. "What were you planning on doing huh, lure me into your hidden dungeon and suck me dry. Wait a second, all those people at your mansion, were they all vampires?" He nodded and I just couldn't hold it in any longer, I walked right up to him and punched him. I soon regretted it because his face was made out if stone, at least that's how it felt like on my knuckles. I was feeling so much pain right now, but I hid my emotions. I looked at Hades' knuckles, it too was red. Hades decided to do what I so badly wanted to do right now. He went up to Xavier and punched him. Hard. I looked at Xavier, his face looked like it had a second-degree burn. "Lucy, you do not want to be with someone like this, gods cannot be trusted. They cannot control themselves! Come with me Lucy, I'll protect you from him." "How do I know you too will not lose control when you smell my blood, and besides how do you expect to protect me from him when you cannot protect yourself from him?" Xavier got up. "Lucy, if I wanted your blood, you would be dead long before now, and so would he," I gulped. "And if I am not strong enough to defeat him, I will get an entire army to do so." "Lucy, don't believe him, he's using you for his mistress' schemes. You're playing their game!" "No, I'm playing your game! You force yourself on me, you force me to tell you where I am! You're the monster, all Xavier has ever been to me is nice. You heard him, if he wanted to kill you, all he had to do was kill me." I took Xavier's hand and left to the parking lot with him. I took one last glace at Hades, he was already evaporating with anger.
