Chapter 1

"Kyla time to get up its 7:30!" My mom yells through the door. I hear my door creak open and peak out from under my blanket to see my mom standing in my door way. "Come on, rise and shine!"

I hear the door shut and I listen to her foot steps shuffle towards my brothers' door.

"Can we just not with school today?" I sit up in my bed. Just to fall back onto my back again. I quickly hear shuffling come back towards my door. I Probably should not have said that. My parents take my brother and I's educations seriously, as a parent would be expected to. I would not consider my parents to be the most strict in the world, they are lenient with most things. Just not with our grades. Its just that... lets just say our grades could be better and my brother Kyle didn't exactly make A-B honor roll last year or for that matter any C's. So now thanks to my brother they are pushing us to make better grades of at least a high C. Ideally, of course a B.

"Kyla Elizabeth Curtis get out of bed or you will have to do all of the house hold laundry for two weeks! Not to mention that Crosstown clash is tonight." My eyes widen in horror.

"You wouldn't." I sit up and look at my now open door to see my mom's slim figure standing in the door way. I narrow my eyes at her.

"Am I one to joke Kyla Elizabeth? " She places a hand on her hip, and narrows her dark brown eyes at me. "We both know what it's like to do your brothers laundry."

A shiver runs down my spine at the memory, causing my whole body to react to the horrendous memory. I swear that there is always the faint smell of football socks lingering in the air.

With that I am wide awake. Once you have ever had to wash Kyle Curtis's laundry, no other punishment compares. It is like actually putting your child in harms way. He is your stereotype football player. I don't even remember the last time he did laundry, but I do remember getting in trouble and having to do his laundry along with everyone else's and let's just say I don't get in trouble often.

"I'm up, I'm up!" I swing my legs over the side of my bed and stretch before making my way over to make my way to the bathroom.

"Good! I set out some cereal for you guys so hurry up and get ready so that you have enough time to eat." I hear her start to walk away. "Make sure your brother is up!" Her voice echoes up the stairs as she descends down.

I let out a load groan. "Mom there is no waking that .....thing up!"

"Oh no need mom, that 'Thing' is already up. Someone's annoying voice already woke me up!" Kyle comes strolling out of his room with messy bed head. He throws a glare at me which I respond by sticking my tongue out at him. Ladies and gentlemen my brother Kyle! Charming isn't he?

"Let me guess why you are in a bad mood this morning.." He tilts his head to the side and sighs like he is thinking. "Oh I know!"

"Oh do share dear brother." I cross my arms across my chest and tap a foot.

"Oh sweet sister, Could it because you are still the less attractive twin out of the two of us? Come on! It has been what 18 years? You should be over it by now!" He starts smirking at me. I glare at him.

"I find it funny how you have been in a constant state of denial for what.. 18 years now? The best was saved for last, and that is why I was born after you." His smirk drops, and I am now the one smirking.

"Denial! HA that is a good one! Blah blah blah!" He mocks me in a high pitched voice with his hands on his hips. I roll my eyes at his bad impersonation of me.

"While I am the more attractive one I am also the more mature one twin! Hah!"

Kyle crosses his arms and shakes his head.
