He Called

Once I got home I got changed out of the security clothes and put on...

I walked downstairs and sat on the couch. I felt my phone vibrate. I picked it up and saw it was a text from an unknown number.

Unknown: Hry Y/n this is Mike. I never got your address.

   ' Oh, it's Mike. '

I put his number in my phone and went back to the text.

You: 367 Walnut Street. I never thanked you by the way. So thank you.
Mike: You don't need to thank me. I'll be there in a few minutes.
You: Okay.

I set my phone back down and watched some TV. It wasn't long until I heard a knock on my front door. I stood up and went to answer it. I opened the door to see Mike standing there. He was wearing black jeans, a light gray T-shirt with a black leather jacket on. 

   " Hey. "

   " Hey, you ready to go?"

   " Yup. Let's go. "

I walked outside and locked my door and got on Mike's motorcycle. I got on behind Mike. 

   " Hold on. " He said.

I did as he said and wrapped my arms around him to hold on. I did not want to fall off. We left my house and he started driving away towards the city. I held on tight. It was fun though. I looked around as he drove to the place. Once we made it I saw that we were at a diner. I let go of him and got off. My face felt cold from the wind. 

   " So, how was it? Riding a motorcycle for the first time?"

   " It was...awesome!"

He chuckled a little bit at my reaction.

   " Good. I'm glad it didn't scare you. "

   " I was scared at first, but then I got more relaxed. "

   " I know. Your grip was tight at first. Then it slackened. "

I smiled a small smile at him and we walked into the diner. We sat at a booth and a waiter came immediately. I ordered F/b and a glass of F/b/d. As we waited it was kind of quiet. We made small talk, but nothing really big or important. Then our food came. I started eating and so did Mike. Then he brought up a question that was already asked before.

   " Why are you wanting to work in the pizzeria?"

   " I needed a temporary job. One that will last me a few weeks while I look for a job I want. "

   " So, why did you want to work at the pizzeria? There were other places you could have gone to. "

   " I saw an ad in the paper and didn't want to miss the opportunity. "

He nodded and once we were done we sat there for a few more minutes talking.

   " So did you get fired from your last Job? Or are you coming out of college?"

   " I wouldn't say I was fired. More like I quit. "

   " Oh? For what?"

   " The boss was being irrational. "

   " I can relate. That how I lost my last job. then I found the same ad in the paper. I've worked there for about a year now. "

   " The manager did say you had some experience. "

   " Did he?"

   " Ya, he did. Said I was going to have a partner, but he had a lot of experience so I would be fine. "

   " Well, I'll have to tell him to stop bragging. I've only had a years experience, but now that's changed because they can change now. "

   " Ya, that was interesting. "

Then it fell into silence. It was a weird silence though it felt comfortable. 

   " So, how was he irrational?"

   " My last boss?"

   " Ya. "

   " Well, he fired me because I broke up with him and lied to his bosses about the reasonings for firing me. I'll tell you his bosses were fed up with him. They wanted me to stay, but I just quit. "

   " Why quit if they wanted you to stay?"

   " Cause I don't want a boss like him. "

   " Understandable. Hey, since we are finished do you want to walk around the park?"

   " Sure. Why not?"

We stood up and he paid even though I told him I would. We decided to walk instead or riding there. We walked to the park and just walked around. It was a nice sunny day. The autumn breeze blowing the orange leaves around. I had fun walking around with Mike. It was nice. He cracked a few jokes that made me laugh. The park was packed with a lot of people, but not too much.

But, Mike was getting a little close. His hand kept briefly touching mine. I saw a small blush on his face. I felt my phone vibrate in my purse. I took it out and looked at the number. It was an unknown number. I answered it and put the phone to my ear.

   " Hello?"

   " Hey, Y/n. "

It was Benjamin. My smile fell from my face. Why would he be calling? I broke up with him and I quit. What's more to do?

   " What do you want?"

   " I just wanted to apologize. I'm sorry I acted like I did. I shouldn't have. "

   " ... "

I stayed silent. I didn't know what to say. I noticed Mike and I had stopped walking. I glanced at Mike and saw that he was looking at me.

  ' Who is it? ' he mouthed.

I put one finger up and paid attention back to the phone.

   " I'm kind of doing something right now. " 

   " Sorry. Call me back then. I didn't mean to interrupt. Bye Y/n. "

   " Bye. "

I hung up and put my phone back in my purse.

   " Who was that?"

   " It was my old boss. "

   " Oh. What did he say?"

   " He said he wanted to apologize. I told him I was busy and that I would call him later. "

   " Okay, well I should get you home. You need sleep for the shift tonight. "

   " Okay. "

We walked back to the diner and got on his motorcycle. He drove me home. I decided I would Call Benjamin later. I was in need of sleep. I set my purse on the couch and walked up the stairs to my bedroom. I opened my door and shut it. I walked to my bed and laid down on it and getting under the blanket. I shut my eyes and sleep greeted me like an old friend.
