The following evening Melanie was having dinner with her family. They were the only ones she truly loved, or at least that's what she thought. She felt comfortable. No one was speaking. Her father, Derek Clark was still working so the control of the family was in Liah's hands.
Liah Clark was mentally pushing people away. But physically she was the exact opposite thing. She was a beautiful and charming lady. Her hair was like Melanie's but way shorter. Liah was used to pulling it into a bun. The conversations with her were always pleasant, even though she never smiled. If someone met her right now, they'd never think she had had a mental disorder and had burnt her own house just a year ago. And the little Oliver, he loved his family the most. He often complimented his big sister, as well as his mother. He knew they were kind of strange but never came to a conclusion. And he never really thought about it though, his mind was busy with Ben Ten.
"How did the rehearsals go?" Liah suddenly ruined the silence. Melanie looked at her just for a second and continued eating.
"It was okay."
"When's the next one? I can come to watch you?"
"It's tomorrow but I don't want you to come, mum."
"Why? Are you dating someone?"
"Mom! You ask me the same question every day and the answer is always the same!"
"I want to be sure, I'm your mother."
"Then behave like one!"
The next moment a few cups found themselves flying towards the wall. The sound scared Oliver. He hid under the table and pulled his legs to his chest.
"Stop talking to me that way, Melanie! I'm trying to get a conversation going! A fucking conversation for fuck's sake! And you always make me so nervous! Damn it."
Liah's daughter never looked at her, not even once. She kept looking at everything in the room but her mother.
"This is completely useless,mom."
"Watch your tongue, Melanie Clark!" Liah screamed.
"Oliver, come." She grabbed his little hand and dragged him upstairs. When they entered her room, he jumped to turn on the lights.
"Would you stay here, please? Play with the video games or something, just don't go downstairs, okay?"
Seconds later, after Oliver nodded, she heard a noise. Someone was clearly throwing stones at the window. Melanie opened it.
"Lenie!" someone called. Lenie? No one called her Lenie. She was confused but showed herself. It was dark but she could clearly see his messy hair.
"Niall?" His eyes seemed black because of the moonlight. His sweatshirt was black, of course, and his jeans were blue. From that height, she could see the tattoo on his neck. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"You didn't forget our meet up, did you? I won't wait all night, jump."
"Are you out of your mind? There isn't a thing in the world that will make me jump. Plus, my mother doesn't let me go out, it's late."
"So you won't come?"
"Don't get me wrong but no, I won't."
"You know, I always have a plan B." He rudely remarked and turned around. "You will sleep with me, understood?" He faded away in the dark. Was he insane? Melanie sighed and closed the window.
"Who were you talking to?" Oliver curiously asked.
"A friend of mine."
"You know mum will punish you if she finds out, right?"
