"I have something's to finish up, but I'll meet up with you in New York in two day and I'll be fine, so don't you worry about me."

The words of John's Uncle Theo had been on his mind all day long, it had been five days since that conversation over the phone and John had been stuck in a cheap hotel with Lupe Borneo for two and a half days, the woman was a bore, she was always reading or 'thinking/meditating' . As a child of Athena, he didn't mind people reading a lot, but she wasn't enjoying reading it, whatever it was.

The fact that his Uncle had yet to contact him was a bit worrying for three reasons, one: Theodore Hornton was never late. two: as great a man as he was, he could never hold his own in a fight and three: the DPC hadn't sent someone new so this meant that they didn't know what happened to him either.

John look over at the window that Lupe almost always stood at, it looked out over the parking lot, which was empty more often then not, but beyond that was some woods and she would stare at them for hours, skipping meals and he was fairly sure sleep as well. He didn't know why she was so strange, only that they had an equal wanting to get out of this place.

He started to back away from the window, to go sit and read, when something caught his eye, movement in the woods past the parking lot, not a little bit of movement, he was talking about a who tree shaking. John took a step back from window. "Lupe.." he breathed, hardly loud enough for himself to hear. The shaking happened again, this time, he wasn't looking, he had turned towards the back room. "Lupe!"

The groaning sound of someone who just got out of bed came from the back room, followed by a head of short tousled hair. Lupe rubbed her eyes as she stepped out of the room, she looked like she was ticked at him now, but he just pointed her towards the window. "Some- somethings out there," he trembled, he might be one of the smartest guys in the camp, but that didn't make him any less afraid, he though things over too much.

"The person on the roof?" she said, looking back over her shoulder at him. "I doubt they are coming for us, so I don't see any reason to be freaking out."

John stared at her, a dumbstruck look on his face. "on the roof?" he walked over to the window, she was right, someone was running along the roof, towards the woods. Looking down another two people were heading towards the woods as well, one of them, he recognized as someone sent to protect him and Lupe.

"We should go," he uttered, turning to grab his always packed bag from the sofa, he started to toss packaged food from the kitchen in there as well.

Lupe watched him running around her. "what do you mean? I doubt we could help them with that Hippalectryon herd, it's ten times more powerful then we are," she sighed, crossing her arms and turning back to the window with a worried expression.

John slowly turned to look at her, he had stopped packing and was now frowning. "how- Lupe, how do you know what it is?" he took a step away from her, slinging his pack over his shoulder.

Looking from the window to him, Lupe swallowed. "I- I guess I... don't know, I just knew," she sounded like she was asking him a question. Determined, she walked into the bedroom and came out a moment later with her pack. "Lets go."

John had thought he got to know her over the past few days, but she was as confusing to him as any woman was and possibly more changeable. They pushed open the door from the hotel room and headed down the hall, towards the fire exit. They ran down the stairs, side by side to the bottom level.

He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the back door, away from the woods. "why are we running?" she asked him but her feet didn't stop.

"We have someone to find, Lupe, and waiting around like this for Theo is giving us less of a chance of finding him," she knew John was right, children like him hardly did anything illogical.

They slowed a little as they crossed the lawn of the hotel, as they got closer to the edge a strange noise came from be hind them, it sounded like a horse at first but the pounding footsteps rung around them like the sound of a Cyclopes running. "Faster!" John commanded.

The Hippalectryon was gaining on them quickly, it's upper body of a horse was kicking it's legs about, Lupe watched as it hit one of the DPC men, sending him flying a good ten feet, she hoped he didn't have a family. The chicken like feet of the beast were allowing it to run faster then they could. "Ah!"

Lupe dove to the side, just out of reach of the hoof that was coming towards her back. She rolled down a small hill, her backpack dung into her skin, she sat up and look at the scene before her.

John was laying on his back, the beast above him had blood on one hoof, she wasn't sure if that was there before. "No!" she screamed, but it was drowned out by the sound of an engine, a powerful one. She saw a black car come barreling towards the beast, narrowly missing Johns body, it rammed into the lower body of the Hippalectryon, knocking it over on top of the vehicle, which was now carrying it towards a tree.

The crunch of bones made her jump, a gasp weeded it's way out of her. The car had rammed the beast into the trunk, it's spine was most likely split. She forced herself to her feet and back up the hill, to John, who lay on the grass, his face had blood on it and after once glance at his wrist, she thought she was going to throw up.

"Stand back!" she heard a voice say, a voice that sounded very much like John, from behind her. She watched a man with black hair come towards her, he carefully lifted John into his arms, but walked slowly like it cause him pain. The blacl car that had hit the creature was pulling back, it stopped in front of the man holding John and a woman got out of the front seat, she pulled open the back door with one hand and grabbed Lupe bicep with the other, she walked her around to the passenger seat and shove her in. "Get them out of her," she spoke to the man, who was know sliding onto the drivers seat.
