The Arising: Something To Fear

Chapter 1

"Fuck" I said.

I threw the walkie talkie onto the ground. I took out my other walkie talkie and told Jeremy to all meet up in the gym for a speech. A few minutes later the gym was packed full of my people. Ana and her people was still planting the crops. I walked to the front of the group.

"I have some bad news. Heath is back. He just got in contact with me and he said that he has Frances. I just wanted to let you know that we are at risk. Stay calm. We don't know his intentions yet. Tomorrow I'm going out, alone, to see Heath. I'm going to try to reason with him to giving Frances back. Everyone else. Get ready for war, just in case things go sideways" I said.

Everyone's faces was shocked and scared.

"Jeremy! If I don't come back then you are gonna have to leave me" I said.

"But.." Jeremy said.

"No. Just do it. I don't want anyone else at risk ok?" I interrupted.

"Ok" Jeremy said.

I walked past Anastasia.

"What is Hunter going to say about you going out there alone?" Anastasia asked.

"She would say I'm crazy and she would wanna come with me" I said.

"Exactly! It is crazy. You can't go alone. You need a few people with you. You can't just risk your life like this!" Anastasia said.

"I don't want to risk it. But if risking my life means that others live, then I would gladly risk my life. Thank you for the concern though" I said.

I continued to walk through the crowd. I found Marc and walked up to him.

"Marc can you get in contact with Arman about this" I said.

"Yep" Marc said running off to radio Arman about what is about to go down.

"What's going on?" Megan asked worried about me.

I got down to her height.

"Megan. Nothing is going on. Frances has just gone missing and some other group found her" I said.

Megan must of just walked in because she had no idea what was happening.

"Was it Heath?" Megan asked.

I sighed.

"Yes it was. Now go check on your mother. I'll come in and see you two in a bit ok?" I said.

"Ok" Megan said kissing me and running of to the infirmary.

"What's Mabel going to say about this?" Stella asked.

"She's going to be sad. But she would probably go out to him alone. Which I don't want. So I can't tell her. We just need to hope Mabel and Aydan both get back soon. I'll get her back. No matter what. She's my family too. And I love her. Like I love everyone in this community. Trust me ok?" I said.

"Ok. I trust you" Stella said.

"I need to go talk to Hunter about this" I said.

I walked off towards the infirmary. I walked in and saw Hunter standing up with Megan hugging her.

"What are you doing up?" I said.

"I'm ok to go" Hunter said.

"That's great. I need to talk to you about something" I said.

"I know. Megan told me all of it. Well at least most of it. He's back. What we both feared" Hunter said.

"Yeah. You might want to sit down" I said patting Megan's head.

She sat down on the bed. I sat down next to her. Megan jumped up onto my lap.

"Heath has Frances. He says she's safe and sound. I trust his word. I'm gonna go out there to a place he told me to meet him. I will negotiate with him. I'll get her back and that's, that" I said.

"Alone?" Hunter said.

"Yes. I don't want anyone in any danger" I said.

"Thats stupid, and crazy! You'll die! I don't want you to die! I can't lose you!" Hunter said worried about me.

"That's what I thought you would say. But Heath said just me and me alone, I'm scared that if he sees anyone else then he would kill Frances. This is the best way" I said.

"Ok. There's no reasoning with you. I trust you babe. I know that what ever you choose to do will work out" Hunter said.

"Thank you. I'm leaving tomorrow" I said.

"Has Mabel and Aydan returned yet?" Hunter asked.

"No" I said.

"They are still looking for her?" Hunter said.

"Yes" I said.

"I don't want to tell her. Not yet. If she finds out she would wanna go over to Heath and kill him for Frances. He just wants me. Mabel will be back soon. We can tell her then" I said.

"And what if Heath kills her. What then?" Hunter said.

"Then we are going to war again" I said.

"I don't want you to do this dad. I don't want you to die" Megan said.

"I won't die. I will be careful. I promise" I said tightly hugging her.

I should get a few things ready for tomorrow. I will see you later" I said giving Hunter and Megan both a kiss.

I walked out of the infirmary and walked to the armoury. I grabbed extra bullets for my revolver and I grabbed an AK-47 with three rounds of ammo. I then got a car ready full of fuel and a little bit of food and water. That's when my walkie talkie buzzed.

"Sam. We can't find her. We decided we will come back tomorrow. We will see you later" Mabel said.

I sighed and continued to pack the car. Once I finished I walked over to the oval. I saw Ana drinking water.

"Hey" I said.

"Hi" Ana said.

"How many more days do you think till you completely have done with the seeds?" I asked.

"Tomorrow it will be finished. Then we can finally get out of your hair" Ana said.

"Ok" I said walking away.

I walked up to the cell where Alleigh was guarding. I sat down next to her on the step.

"You know. You've completely changed since we killed Thomas. You can talk to me. I would like to know what's up" I said.

Alleigh looked to the floor.

"I just really miss Kiara. She was my best friend. Before this I never even talked to you. But then we became friends. Now you're the only one I know. Everyone I know died. All my friends. I just don't know if I can ever get over it, and it's been a year since the war. I just don't know what to do anymore" Alleigh said.

"I miss everyone as well. Everyone we lost. I look back. I remember them. But I got over it. There's still sadness in me, but I got over them. I moved on, and I have people that love me. All around me, and so do you. You have everyone in this community to support you and help you. I love you Alleigh. We all love each other. We are all family. When I get back from the meeting I would like to go out for a drive with you. Maybe try to find some supplies. What do you think?" I said.

"Yeah. I would like that" Alleigh said.
