"So come on then, spill the gossip on you and Cory." Missy spoke as she came to sit down with me and Nas at dinner, after dropping out last year to help look after her sister Missy was in the year below us meaning we had no lessons wth her. She had made me promise not to tell Nas anything without her.
"There's not really much to tell." I shrugged sipping at my water.
"Has he tried it on with you?" Nas questioned. I shook my head no.
"Don't let that trick you, he's always figuring out new ways to get girls into bed." Missy replied.
"Do you think that's why he's being nice to me?" I muttered sheepishly.
"Of course it is. Your issue Kiera, you always see the best in people." Missy spoke loudly. "I think I need to find you a boyfriend." She smiled while looking at me before turning to Nas. "And you a girlfriend." Nas had come out to us both about being lesbian a while ago and we were both completely supportive and had our minds set on finding her a girlfriend.
"No thanks Missy I don't want a boyfriend." I spoke while thinking back to a that night four days ago. Soon enough Missy and Nas were trying to come up with a brilliant plan to find Nas a girlfriend, I had completely zoned out of the conversation, thinking about Cory. Of course all the wanted was to get in my pants, I was stupid to think that we could ever be friends. A loud rumble of my stomach brought me out of my thoughts, I thought back to the last time that I had eaten, it was just after my operation which was two full days ago. I was cutting back on my food but I didn't mean this much, no wonder that I had no energy for school. I got up out of my seat and headed over to the counter where Mrs Paracha was stood, I picked up an apple and paid for it before she spoke to me.
"I tried phoning your mother yesterday, went straight to answer machine, she okay?"
"Yeah, her and George are somewhere where there's no service, she did tell me, I forgot to mention it." I lied, truth be told I don't even know where my mother is, she could be dead for all I know. As I turned around to head back to the table I came face to face with Cory's little brother Jordan, in school we acted like we had never spoke, however we had had a few run ins on the street and looked out for each other out there.
"Meet me behind the rec straight after school." He whispered, his head down.
"Yeah." I replied quietly as to not attract attention before going back to Missy and Nas.I hurried out of my last lesson hoping not to run into Cory, seeing as he was meant to be walking me home, how ever I was too late.
"Kiera where you sneaking off to." Cory spoke while jogging up to me.
"There's been a change of plan, I have a meeting with Mrs Carter, god knows how long it's going to last, you can go home, Missy's going to stay with me." I had been working in the lie just incase I had got caught by him.
"It's fine I'll wait for you."
"I'm going back to Missy's anyway so there's no point but thanks." I smiled slightly before he walked off, I waited until he was out of view before going the opposite way to him, leading to the rec. Within five minutes I was waiting behind it waiting for Jordan, god knows why he had called me to meet him, he'd never done this before. Eventually Jordan showed up on his bike.
"What's up?" I asked worryingly.
"Dad's kicked me out hasn't he." I know Jordan and his father clashed and he was often sleeping out on the streets. "Cory said that your mom and dad were away on business."
"Step-dad." I corrected him. "You want to stay at mine don't you?"
"Yeah." He mumbled.
"Fine but you've got to be out by the time my step- dad's back." I warned.
"I will, promise."
"Here," I said handing him a ten pound note. "Go get some chips for you then come round to mine."
"Thanks." Jordan smiled before taking off on his bike. I walked in the opposite direction back to my house to wait for Jordan to return.
