I slammed the front door shut as I slumped into my house. They had just charged Pete, he pleaded guilty so he would be in court next week for his sentencing, they told me however he would at least get five years. It might not seem like much, but it's enough time for me to get the hell out of this place. There was about an hour before school finished which would be when Riz came round to take me to his, so I decided that I would go and look for Jordan, Mrs Carter had gotten a call when we were at the police station to start that Jordan hadn't come into school today and I couldn't help but think that that was my fault. I grabbed my coat and the one that he had left here this morning and headed back out hoping to find him seeing as it was soon getting freezing cold outside.
I decided to head to the rec first, I assumed he wouldn't go home because I knew his dad didn't work so he would most definitely be at home. The rec was where I first met Jordan, where Cory helped me for the first time. It brought back a lot of memories going there. Unfortunately nothing, I had checked high and low at the rec, twice, he definitely wasn't there. By the time I had made absolute sure that Jordan wasn't there it was time for school to finish, I decided to start walking to school, there I could meet Cory and Riz and tell them that I couldn't find Jordan. Halfway there I noticed a familiar car parked on the road, the crew belonged to the dealer Khadim who Jordan and I met threw. I crossed the street and walked over to the car, putting my head in the window which had been rolled down.
"Khadim, you seen Jordan?" I asked making him jump a mile, probably scared I was the police or something.
"I'm meant to be meeting him here."
"Since when?"
"He rang about an hour ago said he needed some cash quick."
"Right, make sure he rings me when he comes, I need to speak to him." I told Khadim before walking off, we can never talk for too long otherwise people start catching on and we don't need that. I crossed back over the road and finished my journey to school, by the time I got there I saw Riz and Cory standing outside of school with their usual group of mates. I stood near them not wanting to mix with their friends any more that I had to. I caught Cory's eyes with mine and nodded over to round the back off school where the changing rooms were, telling him to find an excuse to come and see me there. I quickly walked off to the place where I had motioned to Cory and waited a few minutes for him to come.
"I went home and Jordan wasn't there, he wasn't at the rec either." I told Cory, running a hand threw my knotted hair. "I've told some friends to ring me if they see him but what are the odds of that happening?"
"He does this a lot, he knows that dad would've calmed down in a couple of days then he'll come home. Honestly don't worry." He gave me a small smile as he finished speaking.
"Will you ring me when he does?" I asked taking his phone out of his hand and inserting my number into it.
"Yeah, I never even knew you two were mates."
"It's a long story." I stated before looking over at Riz, he was now stood by himself, presumably waiting for Cory to walk with considering he didn't know that I was here yet. "Come on, Riz is waiting." I told Cory before starting to walk in Riz's direction.
"Are you ok?" Riz asked concerned while rushing me into a hug when I had gotten within one meter or so of him.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, tough as nails me." I smirked while pulling away from the hug
"Well come on then, dad said that I have to take you home." Riz spoke while throwing an arm over my shoulder, I noticed that Cory was walking the other side of Riz but remained unusually quiet for himself. The short walk home was mainly quiet before I decided to speak up.
"So how'd Alya take the news?" I questioned turning to face Riz.
"Pretty much as you'd expect. She refused to let you stay but dad said he can either get along with you or she can stay at our aunts, needless to say she's staying at home." Riz chuckled.
"Wow, she really is a stuck up cow isn't she?" I chuckled, already knowing the answer. Me staying with them would annoy her so much and secretly I loved the thought of that idea. She deserves it after what she puts everyone at school through, she thinks she's the best if the best, can't be beaten and that no one is worthy of her company.
For the rest of the walk home I went on my phone, texting Missy and Nas while Cory and Riz joked around. We approached Cory's house first where we left him and soon Riz and I were inside my house.
"When do you reckon your parents while be back from that trip?" Riz asked, sat on my bed picking up the picture of my mom from the bed side table.
"I don't know, it's more of a stay there until the jobs done kind of thing." I lied. "Sometimes they're gone for months."
"And you just stay here by yourself?" I nodded my head. "Don't you get lonely?"
"Not really, I usually stay at Missy or Nas' house." I spoke while throwing clothes into the suitcase next to Riz. "Right I think I'm done."
"Well lets go then." Riz spoke while grabbing the suitcase and carrying it down the stairs, I told him I could carry it but he wasn't having nay of it.
