"Oh, my, god." I spoke as Riz opened the front door of his house. "You basically live in a palace."
"Yeah I guess." He chuckled shutting it behind me.
"I knew you were rich but holy shit Nawaz." I whispered making him laugh.
"Dad, we're home." Riz shouted while stepping his way through the living room.
"In here." His fathers voice shouted back. Riz left my suitcase in the living room and motioned for me to follow him to where the voice was coming from. Alya, Sadiq and who I'm assuming was Riz's mother was sat around a table with an array of food spread out before them.
"Mom this is Kiera." Riz introduced me to his mom before putting his hand on the small of my back and leading me to a chair opposite Alya. He sat down next to me and they all started piling food into their plates. I grabbed a spoon full of the food in front of me, some sort of rice, and began to eat very slowly, hoping that no one would notice that I would only be having one spoon full. The room was quiet except from the occasional clinking of forks against plates.
"This is really good Mrs Nawaz." I smiled at her, it was true the food tasted amazing.
"Suck up much." Alya whispered underneath her breath, however it was still loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Alya be nice." Her mother hissed before turning to smile at me. "Thank you dear. Sadiq tells me your parents are away a lot with work, I bet you don't get many sit down meals."
"Yeah can't remember the last one." I said truthfully, it must've been before my mom left about two years ago.
"Feel free to come back anytime for tea love." She smiled before carrying on eating. I gave a small side glance to Riz who seemed to be impressed that I was getting along with his mother so well. "So do you have siblings then?" She asked starting up conversation.
"Four brothers, don't really see them much though, they've all moved out." Technically that was true, they moved out but Mom took them with her, leaving only me behind. She said it was because I was receiving medical care at the nearby hospital and she didn't want to move it and that she'd come back for me eventually, and I'm still waiting.
"That's a shame, it's important to cherish family." She spoke as everyone finished their meals.
"Yeah I still text with them from time to time but that's it really." I spoke placing down my fork and taking a sip of water which had been placed out in front of me.
"Right well if everyone's finished, kids you can go." Sadiq said while clapping his hands together. Riz and Alya both stood up simultaneously and went to exit in the room. Sadiq quickly rushed off somewhere due to his phone ringing, which left Mrs Nawaz picking up plates from the table. I started to help her as Riz watched with an amused look on his face.
"Kiera, I'm fine, you go with Riz, I'll clean up." She told me once she had noticed I was helping her clear up.
"Honestly I insist, it's fine." I told her before proceeding to clean the table off, asking where she wanted putting the left over food. Soon enough I was drying the dishes and putting them away, I would've washed up but with a cast on my hand I can't because it would get wet. Once I was finished she ushered me off to where Riz was sitting in the next room.
"Finally ready then I see?" Riz questioned, amusement lacing his voice.
"Yeah." I replied sheepishly.
"Come on then I'll show you you're room." He spoke while grabbing my suitcase before I could appose. He quickly walked off, his long legs able to carry him much further than my short ones, however he was still in view. He shut the door behind me when we approached what I assume was the guest bedroom. I gazed around the room while Riz jumped on the bed.
"Comfy?" I chucked staring at him surrounded by a ton of pillows.
"Very, try it." He spoke while patting next to him. I paused for a minute before walking over and lying next to him, not before taking my shoes off though.
"Sure does beat mine." I chuckled thinking back to my one at home, Pete had probably found it in a skip for me, he never really did care.
"You know having all this money isn't as great as it seems." He said while turning on his side, leaning on his elbow to face me.
"Oh yeah sure seems like it." I laughed at him, got to be better than living off scraps all week, having to work for a drug dealer to find your next meal.
"No I mean it, you never know who's mates with you for the money and who's real." He spoke, I guess I could understand that.
"Well I'm real that's all you need to know, this is just all an added bonus." I smiled, he chuckled lightly before becoming serious again. I noticed him give lips a quick look and I prayed that what I thought was going to happen wasn't about to happen. Riz closed the gap between our faces all of a sudden and I was left there shocked, did he always feel like this? Subconsciously I started to kiss him back, the thought not even going through my head that this was one of my best mates. I felt one of his hand go onto my hip as I turned on my side to go deeper into the kiss, moments later his hand moved to my bum and in that moment flashbacks came through my mind. It was like I was watching everything that Pete did to me through a screen and I knew that I needed to get out of this situation. Saved by the bell, my phone rang causing me to pull away.
"Ignore it." Riz spoke while going in for another kiss.
"It might be urgent." I spoke while sitting up and grabbing my phone. I saw an unknown number flash up on the screen I hesitated for a minute before answering it, I stood up and paced around the room while speaking.
"Hello?" I questioned into the phone.
"Kiera, it's Cory, just thought I'd let you know Jordan came home."
"Thank god." I spoke while letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"How's the posh house anyway, Riz told me you were staying with him."
"Yeah it's good." I smiled.
"Don't get used to it, don't want you turning into Alya do we? Anyway are you alright, today must've been tough?" It was strange I wanted to speak to Cory about what had just happened, I knew that it was because he was the only person my age that knew, but I still wanted to speak to him regardless.
"Yeah, yeah sure I can meet you at the rec now." I spoke hoping that he would catch on.
"I'll take that as your not alright, come to mine if you want, Dad's out at a job interview and Jordan's gone out too."
"Yeah, great, I'll see you soon." I replied before hanging up.
"Trying to escape me are you?" Riz asked while coming to stand next to me.
"Course not." I lied. "It was just Missy, something's happenedShe with her Mom and she needs me there."
"It's cool, I understand. I can walk you down if you want?"
"I'll be fine, Missy doesn't like many people knowing about her mom, she'd be fuming if I brought anyone with me."
"Right well then, I'll go tell my mom and dad that you're going out and I'll leave you to it."
"Thanks." I smiled before he left the room. I felt really bad for lying, I know that Riz didn't know the truth, he couldn't possibly have but it was too soon for me to start seeing anyone. I quickly got changed into black jeans, a grey jumper and a green bomber jacket before slipping on some white adidas shoes which I had stole from a shop a couple of weeks ago. I took my hair down out of its pony tail and exited the room with my phone in my hand. The first person that I saw was Sadiq.
"So you're going to meet Missy?" He questioned looking at me suspiciously.
"Yeah, her and her sister have having a couple of issues, I'll be back in an hour, two tops." I told him.
"Alright, well be careful."
