“The body of Daniel Conner Stevens, aged seventeen, was found brutally murdered in his home this evening.”

Levi’s spoon drops from his hand into his bowl with a loud ting echoing in the room. His mother is out tonight, working her shift at the Pie Factory in the next town over late tonight and so he’s alone eating fruity pebbles in front of the TV. His homework sits before him half done as he stares wide eyed at the TV screen before him while they wheel Danny’s body out of his house in a body bag.

What the hell?

“His body was discovered by his parents after they arrived home to find the horrifying sight. All signs, including a signature bit of evidence the police have yet to release have yet to release, has lead them to declare this another victim of the infamous Bunny Face serial killer. As our viewers may remember Bunny Face made their mark last year with the brutal triple homicide of the Griffin family.”

Levi is nearly nose-to-nose with the TV as he stares at the pictures of a father and his two sons; all looking eerily familiar appear on the screen. All have matching brown eyes and the father has long brown tied back hair as they all smile at the photographer. They look like a nice happy family. Levi doesn’t get it. She seems only interested in killing men, Bunny Face he means but then that leaves on question: Why was he still alive then?

He didn’t understand.

“There have been no leads in who Bunny Face is and until we find out bodies are just going to keep piling up.” The male reporter said walking closer to the camera, “If you have an information please contact your local police as soon as possible.”

Levi’s eyes moved of their own accord towards the phone. He knew Bunny Face was female. That’s something he hadn’t mentioned when the police had questioned him. He stares at the phone debating for a few more minutes before he just turned the TV off. He won’t and can’t do it. She had helped him and for some reason let him live despite her habit of killing all men in the home.

It was a big break wasn’t it?

I mean it seemed that way to him.

Fuck it, he thought with a defeated sigh. Putting his bowl in the sink he put in his headphones and began doing the rest of his physics homework. Levi drowned out his thought with some Korn blasting through his ears. Especially the thoughts about how the last victim was oddly his biggest bully.

The next day after the announcement of Danny’s murder and people have really been avoiding him. The rumor is he’s some psycho bent on revenge. Levi only snorts at the rumors. He isn’t that stupid.

He’s in his English lit class when he nearly falls off his chair. The sudden appearance of a backpack on the two-person desk before him makes him jump at the loud bang it makes when it lands. No one, and he means no sits beside him. He’s a social pariah here and people respect the pecking order. Surprised and confused he lifts his ice blue gaze from his notebook where he’s been scribbling and meets a pair of large caramel doe eyes looking back him blankly.

Rosemary.

“Uh, hey, Rose.”

Levi wants to hit himself. The nickname had just spewed out his mouth like vomit. He’s an idiot. She didn’t give him permission call her that so why did he? He’s about to profusely apologize when he’s struck with the slight smile on her lips as she tilts her head to regard him like he’s an interesting specimen.
