Interview:
Me: For your story Laila's Bad Beast, how did you come up with the concept?
Author: I was actually inspired by my own relationship. I have been told that myself and my boyfriend resemble the characters of Beauty and the Beast haha. Odd, I know.
Me: That is really funny, so are you saying these characters resemble you and your boyfriend?
Author: Yep, that's what I'm saying. How we are with each other or when we're just ourselves alone; our personalities are pretty much equivalent to those characters.
Me: That is very sweet actually, The main character Laila is very humble for a sophomore in high school, why is that?
Author: Well, Laila is sort of ahead of her own generation. She is very wise for age and, since she has discovered the world of story-telling it helps her to look at the world in a different light.
Me: And what about Dom why is he such a angry guy?
Author: Dom just has such a grim, unpleasant history that involves his family (especially, his father) which causes him to have a soul just full of rage and great frustration. Of course, that will be shown later on in further detail :-).
Me: Oh I see, he is one of those hurt sprites? Dom liked the way Laila didn't look so scared of him, and the way she like saw passed his arrogant personality, so does he want everyone to see him like that or does he just want that from her?
Author: Unfortunately, yes. Dom actually doesn't care what anyone thinks of him but he would like for just one person to see him for who he is without judging him or turning him away.
Me: What about Laila I didn't get to see her thoughts since it was in his point of view what did she think at that moment?
Author: I'm actually posting her point of view, tonight! So, you will get to see more into the character of Laila but I'll say this, the moment between Dom and herself was something that causes her to question why she acted so rash, when she herself doesn't usually defend her own honor.
Me: Oh thanks for the insider of that and I will be reading that along with a multitude of other stories. Tell me more about Lauryn, don't you think she is a little boy crazy for the typical teenage girl?
Author: Glad to let you in. Hahaha Lauryn is quite an obsessor of the male species. The thing with Lauryn is, she feels like she has to keep guys on their toes and their eyes on her because she thinks very highly of herself. So, she literally will do anything to contain a guy's attention.
Me: That sounds a little dangerous, like Laila said. Haha, anyway you said that you might change the story to restricted why is that? It was a little cookie cutter in the beginning, so is little ol' Laila less innocent then what you let on to be in the beginning?
Author: Yeah, Lauryn is probably the epitome of a troublemaker. Hahaha well, Beau and the Beast is quite an innocent story and originally I had set out to create something a bit darker and louder, even if these does involve teenagers. Laila is an innocent but there is something buried inside of her, scratching to be dugged out.
Me: Oh, that's a twist to beauty and the beast making it. Little darker than the actually happily ever after, but I'm still sure this is going to be a happily ever after with the two right?
Author: Yes, there will be a happily ever after. Just no promises of a carriage and a castle.
Me: Okay, on a serious note, what advice would you give to a up coming writer?
Author: Write what you feel, not what you think. Thinking causes you to second guess yourself and your work. Art is something that is not to be settled for. It's either created or not.
Me: Great advise, now tell me this, I always end with this question, is writing a passion or is it just for fun?
Author: Both! Writing -to me- is both a pleasure and an entertaining experience. I believe both are needed to even come up with a story.
Me: Great, thanks for such and amazing interview, and such and amazing story! It was a great chat, and I'm so ready for that next chapter. ;) hopefully there will be a follow up interview later on.
Author: Yay! I had fun conversing with you, also. I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day...or night! Haha
My Thoughts: As you can see I had a really awesome time talking to this young lady, she has a very bubbly attitude which made the interview so pleasant. In this interview we got a lot of inside on each character that in important in this upcoming romance, and that was really important. I honest to God recommend this book to everyone, if you want the ideal perfect daughter you are getting it all and more, plus the boy is such a bad ass, so this book is actually great for any gender and its not cheesy. You going to really enjoy it like it. The link is below!
