Kyle Saint Richardson above

Omniscient

Karmen and Kyle made their way to the hospital room.

Kyle ran in and hugged his mother. "Mom, are you okay?"

She rubbed his back and kissed his forehead. "Yes, I'm fine baby.." Kimberly looked up and saw Karmen standing at the door with her arms crossed.
"I'm fine, thanks for asking Karmen."

Karmen walked in the room. "Kyle go get mama a snack from the vending machine." She said as she dismissed Kyle.

Karmen's Point of View

I gave Kyle some change and watched as he walked out.

"You're relasping.." I said. Mom just laughed.

"No, I'm not Karmen. It's been almost 10 years."

"Then why did they find heroine in your blood mom?" I snapped. "We are not going down that road again. Kyle doesn't need to witness what I have.." I said as my eyes started to get watery.

"Karmen, mi amour..I promise. I'm not going back down that road.." she said as she held her hand out for me.

I just stared at her hand. "Karmen." She said. I just shook my head.

"Here mom I got you oreos, doritos for you Karmen." Kyle said as he tossed me the bag.

"How long are you in here ma?" I asked.

"Staying over night so they can run more tests..James will get me in the morning. You guys go get some sleep." She answered as she turned her ahead away.

"Goodnight ma." Kyle said as he kissed her forehead.

10:30 PM

Kyle and I finally made it back to the house. "Go ahead, I'm gonna sit out here." I said as I grabbed my blunt out my pocket and lit it.

Flashback

"Mommy are you okay??" 7 year old Karmen asked as I shook her unresponsive mother.

"Mommy mommy!" Karmen screamed and got no response. She was knocked out cold with a needle in her arm and alcohol surrounding her. Baby Kyle was next to her screaming at the top of his lungs.

She grabbed him and held him tightly and locked themselves in my bedroom until he fell asleep.

Flashback Ends

"Karmen?" A familiar voice called out.

I snapped out of it and it was Devin standing in front of me.

"Hey, you scared me." I said as I exhaled the smoke. "What's up?"

"I noticed you out here through my window and wanted to make sure you were straight..." he said as he examined me.

"Yeah, I'm good. Thanks. Wanna hit?" I asked handing the blunt to him.
