Sheri is my maid. I love her to death. Sheri is going to "retire" when I find my Queen and she will live with us. She is too old to live by herself. Sheri was "mother" growing up. Today, she is 68 years old.
Also, today is the day I find my Queen. Many people think I am cruel and unforgiving, but that is only to the people who don't know me. I show no mercy to troublemakers and that is how I got my name.
"Sire," my closest friend and personal advisor, Josephus starts, "the ladies have just arrived and the Choosing is in an hour. You must get ready."
"Joe, please. Formalities are for the public. You are my friend, so please quit with the formality." I laugh at my old friend and he sighs.
"Dominik, I am sorry, but today is a stressful day and I can not help it. So please just get ready." Jo walks out of my room and I sigh. I have heard my rumors about these girls. Two in particular, Diana and Cassandra. Diana is very beautiful and obedient. Cassandra is also to be very beautiful, but rebellious. She goes to the Black Concerts. Black Concerts are illegal concerts put on by women and men. I know about them and occasionally go to them. I do enjoy the music and that is why I haven't shut it down yet. I start to sing Flyleaf and get in the shower.
~An hour later~
I am currently waiting for my introduction. Josephus stands next to me. When I am done with the Choosing, Josephus will be able to choose a Lady for himself. His methods of Choosing are different than mine. He want to "get to know" the girl. For I just look for the girl with captivating beauty and great genes. Jo is looking for "forever" he says, but I am looking for someone to bare my heir. Someone to take over after I pass. Jo calls is love; I call it survival of the fittest and I will come out on top! That is the Luka vow. We cannot lose or submit to anyone, but those before us. Josephus has earned my respect in more ways than one and so I treat him equal to I.
"Dominik." I turn to Jo. "Just remember that women are jealous creatures and so many women will get upset with you having many female suitors. Please take this into consideration." Jo is serious, but I can't help to laugh.
"She will know her place and if I want just her, I will have just her. If I want more than what she can provide, then I will find someone to fit where she cannot." I laugh and face forward.
"I fear for the women you Choose, for you can truly be heartless and vicious." If that came from anyone else, they would have died, but Jo is Jo.
"That is you opinion and I cannot take away that from anyone for everyone is entitled to one. But be warned my friend-"
He interrupts me, "If that came from anyone else you would serve me for dinner, I understand. I do, Dom. But women have feelings, too. Some are soft-hearted and as your wife you must meet her needs, also. You must respect her for she will be your Queen as you will be her King. And then there is the other half of the argument, as for other women are hard-hearted and selfish; you will only be a way for power. These ladies will use you for money, power, your body. As I said, choose carefully. Think of your child and you as a child. Do you want that for your heir?" What he said made me shut my mouth. I never thought of that. And that makes my Choosing that much harder. I don't want my child going through life as hard as I did. I would want his mother to be around.
"Now introducing, Prince Dominik Luka. Prince of Edeaveth." I walk out with Josephus behind me. This is a daily routine for me. People come from all over the Kingdom to see me and help them with their problem. That usually includes my people asking for money for their home, family, and/or shop. I give it to them. But only enough to get them back on their feet. I like to take care of my people. I stand and look around the room. Two guards protect the door and many women are in the room.
"You may be seated." I say. I sit first and then everyone, excluding Jo and the guards sit. Jo starts to read off a name list. One by one I examine each Lady. She comes up, curtsies and I ask her to spin around. For Jo's sake I ask them to tell me about themself. When I say, "You may be seated." Jo reads off another name. So far we have gone through 25 women and not one of them being Diana or Cassandra. I lazily wait for them. They are the two I want to know about. Diana is most likely last considering she is rumored to be the next Queen of Edeaveth.
When I start to get bored I hear a name that interests me. "Lady Cassandra Blake."

Cliffhanger?! Yes I am back! Later is better than never! I am working on this story and the new one that isn't named or posted yet. Like I said before, I want to finish Winter's Moon before I post a new story and I kinda want to get ahead on writing the new book. Thankssss :)
And GUESS WHAT?! not gonna guess.... okay :( I got a KITTEN!! IT"S BLACK AND WHITE AND THE FIRST PERSON TO COMMENT HER NAME WILL BE ADDED TO THIS STORY AS A SEMI-IMPORTANT CHARACTER! Oh My Zombies.... This is a first for me... hahaha well happy guessing and check out my other books.
